Owner description: A National Historic Landmark, Old St. Patrick's Church is one of only two early landmarks of distinction left in Lafayette Square, the other being Gallier Hall. Irish immigrants built the Gothic-style church in 1840 to rival the French St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square.

“Don't just pass outside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

It took me a few tries to get inside, having to attend the end of a mass to do so, but it was worth it. The head of the church has three amazing murals, with a nice stained glass dome at the top. Everyone inside was very nice and didn't mind me taking pictures. If staying in the convention center area, have a walk down camp street and pass by to see when the next mass will be and catch it on the way back if you can,

“Gregorian Mass was breathtakingly beautiful! ”

This was the most beautiful mass I have ever been to. The chanting, the reverence, and the message was a perfect way to start a Sunday!

“Good Friday Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

My husband and I were able to sneak a peek at this beautiful landmark after Good Friday services ended. What a gem. This place has been very well taken care of. The stained glass above the high alter is breathtaking. I would recommend a visit.

We passed by in the late afternoon and it was closed. The next day we passed by earlier and went in for the noon mass. WOW!
