This van showed up on time, the tour was educational, the samples of rum were interesting and different. This group does a great tour. Make sure you book the free shuttle van as it is too far to walk.
Be sure to visit this off the beaten path place when you are in New Orleans! A great tour, fun information, and even better tastings! If you go on the weekend when the don't offer shuttle service, be sure to check your directions or call for a cab driver that's been there! It can be a little hard to find, but well worth the hunt!!! (if you are smart, offer to pay your cab drivers fee for the tour so you don't have to call for a return, its a win win for both you and the driver.)
So I don't think I would have made a trip to New Orleans for this tour specifically, but it was still a fun part of the afternoon. We got to each of the different rums, which was included in the $10 per person cost of the tour. The guide was very informative, and we got to see each step of the brewing and do stilling process.
My gf and I both loved the tour. They offered free pick up and drop off from the French Quarter. It's $10 a person, but they have coupons on the local tourist map they hand out at the tourist office in the southern French Quarter. With coupon it was $15 for 2.
Our guide was an older gentleman, very nice. He was interesting and friendly, even pointing out the water marks on the posts from hurricane Katrina!
They gave us a rum punch for the tour, then we did a sample of everything they sell (about half shot each). They also let you try the moonshine ;) lol. The price was awesome, you'd spend more at any bar for the same amount. And the quality was quite good! Our favorite was the Cajun rum. Give it a shot. Literally.
I was pleasantly surprised by the tour and quality of rum being produced here. Try the 10 year and Cajun spice, you won't be disappointed.
