“Really like The Dive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2004

Stayed there for Mardi Gras 2003 and found the Hotel to wonderful. It is not a "chain" style hotel so don't expect it to be like anyplace you have ever stayed. There are no TV's but if you know that before going and you won't be disapointed. The honor system for the bar is so cool and the friendlness of the other guest when we were there made it an unforgetable vacation. The location is fantastic and we can not wait to go back.

Geez, that place was horrible. Like the other review that was written,
there was a really odd film over the pool. It was like the pool had
cataracts. My girlfriend and I were very busy because we were there on
business for a GAS STATION convention. Our 4 children had to stay at
home because kids aren't allowed. But meanwhile when I was trying to
get ICE from a non-functioning machine I saw about three 6 year-olds
running around causing havoc. One of them even knocked over a bowl on a
table. Guess who got blamed? While they scurried into one of the rooms,
a janitor blamed me and I had to clean it up!!!! The room service was a
disaster! I ordered cookies and milk for our room. We got soggy, old
cookies and a glass of sour or spoiled milk. But wait, I didn't even
get to the good part. Our bathroom was terrible. When we got there we
found a flooding toilet. The sink had dirt stains and the shower had
hair ALL over it. I'm not gonna tell you anymore, becuase this is mean.
But I'm only critiqing it. I only didn't like what I mentioned.
Everyone has their own opinion.

Stayed at The Dive Inn twice. Can't disagree more with the one other
review; however, you have to be prepared before you get there or you
may be disappointed.

It may be unkept but not trashy or unclean. The rooms are not what you will get at other Inns (no room service, no tv) but you should know that before you go as you go there to have fun, not to stay in your room. The pool was fresh and clean and very inviting. The water is clear and warm. It is a very private place where just about anything goes if you want to participate. If not, you may just enjoy watching other people have a good time. You may even have the whole place to yourself as they have only about ten rooms and are usually booked only on special events going on in the city.

You are your own bartender as the bar is on the honor system and you drink whatever and leave the money in the frig. There are many fine restaurants nearby. An excellent one just about thirty yards away. Other name restaurants are within walking distance and the trolly is really only about three blocks away (a very nice walk).

You are given a code to enter and from there you are on your own to come and go as you please. The owners are there if you need somelthing but you will have to go to their room if they are not in the pool.

It is a fun place, but not for everyone. Check out their website and go
if you are ready for an adventure or a quiet time. You can have both.
