“I feel bad about only giving this 3 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The hotel is a small oasis in the French Quarter with a nice outside courtyard for sitting and relaxing in and a small pool with sun loungers.
However, our first impression was not good. We arrived in the dark around 10.30 and after unloading our bags from the cab we had problems finding reception. Tip - it is on the right through doors in the entrance alleyway. Once we had found it the person checking us in did not seem to know what he was doing and was rather off hand - assume it to be the night porter. He gestured down the alley and said the lifts were there - they are but it's not obvious and someone else showed us where to go. No signs. The room itself was very nice (with a universal charger for phone etc) but was completely let down by the bathroom which had glass doors and whist admittedly they were frosted meant that any sound carried through to the bedroom and there was nowhere to put anything in there, including towels. Style over substance. On checking out we told the receptionist and she said most guests say the same. However, they are due to start some re- furb and hope to address this.

Definitely a must see, but you need to have an open mind. Interesting, exciting and it can be raunchy. Dull in the AM but more exciting as the day gets older. Excellent restaurants and interesting entertainment. Not for kids.

Recently celebrated a birthday weekend in New Orleans staying at the fabulous W New Orleans French Quarter. Property, staff and service was impeccable. And you can't find a better location in the Quarter to setup base camp and explore the city on foot. Someone leaked my birthday and staff even sent up a nice bottle of wine and dessert platter. What a surprise and a pleasant weekend thanks to the W New Orleans.

Room Tip: patio room overlooking the street is ideal. Others face courtyard

Open the dictionary and look up hospitality. There should be a picture of Janay from the W in New Orleans right there... She is an amazing ambassador of this hotel. Helk, she is an ambassador for the whole city of New Orleans!

Sure, the rooms are a little tiny, but the beds are awesome. The bar is clutch and SoBu is delish. Try the Geaux Fish!!!

The location is perfect. Super fun to get lost in the Quarter. On purpose! Right outside your front door!

I stayed here for 2 consecutive business trips and had a similar experience both times. As other reviews say, the location is about as good as you can get. Lots of restaurants / other attractions are easily within walking distance.

The decoration within the rooms was, frankly, weird. The two rooms that I stayed in each had a playing card motif, with a large playing card on the wall / ceiling. I woke up staring into the eyes of a king of spades. Weird.

The staff was helpful throughout the stay, with some frustrations. My first room was missing an iron - although they quickly brought me one when I requested, it made for a stressful morning! It did feel like the hotel was understaffed at times - there were several times when I dialed the "Whatever, whenever" line and was put on hold for long periods of times. Additionally, when I checked in for the second stay, there was only one woman at the register. She was helping another guest figure out travel options (booking flights, restaurants), so I had to wait about 20 minutes to get checked in. Although she was very pleasant (and gave me a coupon for a drink at the bar to make up for the wait), it was still frustrating to wait at the end of a long day.

Hello mollybyday -

Thank you for staying at W French Quarter for both of your business trips. I'm happy to hear that overall, you enjoyed your stay, but do apologize for the two issues that you encountered with the iron and the front desk wait time. It sounds like you were in a tarot designed room both times. We also have a jazz design that perhaps you'd prefer. If you find yourself traveling to the city again, we'd love to try and put you in the other room design to see if it fits your taste better. If there's anything we can do for you in the meantime, please let us know. We'd love to welcome you back to the hotel.

Warm regards,
James Wroblewski

Wonderful hotel stay. Our room was available early and Shawn at the front desk gave us some drink vouchers for being W Hotel regulars. There were a few small things wrong with the room, but they were quickly fixed. Great teamwork.

When we left to explore every morning, we checked in with the valet staff to make sure we were going to the best places for food / drink. They knew the city and didn't have to fake loving the city. Everyone seemed like they were having fun while being professional and courteous.

A big thanks to Raheem Sims for the indespensible advice and all the cabs he called for us during our stay. It was nice to be welcomed back by the crew at the end of a long night.

One of the many reason to keep coming back to the W hotel. Thanks!

We stayed in the French Quarter for 3 days and had a great stay at the W. Every staff member we encountered was great, but especially Quentin. Always happy, friendly and helpful. He acted as our concierge at times recommending places to eat, etc., as we came and went. He definitely went above and beyind for us. The location is fantastic, and the rooms are great. We ended up leaving our air running all night because the white noise blocked out sounds from the hall and the street.
