“Great hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2011

I've been to 10 or so hotels in the downtown NOLA area (in the Quarter, CBD, Garden District, etc). This is the best I've been too (others have been good, but this one stands out). it is part of the Historic Hampton chain. Hardwood floors, 20' ceilings, brick walls, etc. The staff was great as well, from the valet on entry to checkout. Special shout-out to Meagan at the front desk. If Mgt is reading these, understand that she went above and beyond the required customer service.

Room Tip: Check if your room is going to face a busy street, if so, try to maneuver out of it. Also, higher f...

I went to New Orleans for a weekend "girls" trip with some friends. We had only planned to stay in New Orleans for 1 night but decided to change to 2 nights. We couldn't add a room to our existing reservation as that hotel was sold out, so we decided to spend the first night at a different hotel. This was the only hotel in the same area as the other hotel that had a room so we booked it.

This was not a happy experience. While we were able to check in early and the front desk staff was super nice, this is where the good experiences at this Hampton Inn stopped. While the room was clean (we had 2 double beds), the mattress on the beds was too soft and one of them kept sliding off the box spring. While the bathroom was average size, the towels were dingy and very thin. The carpet did appear to be clean and the room did not have an odor

They did offer the free breakfast and I'm torn on how to review it. I've stayed at the other Hampton Inn in New Orleans and the breakfast there was much better. While this Hampton had the waffle makers, the layout of the food was awful. The food was up against one wall, in a single line, with the waffle makers at the end of the line. It got really congested. The food on the bar was not that great either. The "omelets" were the pre-packaged kind and the sausages were greasy. The waffle was good though!

Overall, I would not stay at this Hampton Inn again. The positives of this hotel do not out-weigh the negatives for me.

The hotel is about 1.5 miles from the French Quarters, 15-20 minute walk. Very safe walk, you'll walk by Harrah's Casino and Hotel and by Canal Street. You'll need to walk to walk-off the pounds from all the fantastic food in NOLA. Really close to WWII museum, a must see. I spent over 4 hours there (bring tissues). Do the cooking class at NOLA School of Cooking on St. Louis Street, its fun, yummy and a good way to spend a few hours. They also have the best pralines!!

The rooms were very clean, beautiful high ceilings. VERY comfortable beds. Great, hot breakfast with huge selection of waffles, hot/cold cereal, eggs, meats, fruit, pastries, coffee/tea, juice, and more!! The staff was very nice and helpful. Would stay again, and recommend to friends and family.

I spent three nights with my daughter on this hotel. It has well decorated, very clean and offer a buffet breakfast that will please most of americans: biscuits, juices, bagels, eggs, bacon, cereal, and so on. Nothing gourmet or unique though. The room is the highest point of this hotel: also clean, cozy and confortable. The only problem was they gave us a non-smoking room and the room was smelling... smoke! I complaint but they dodged the ball (see below). No great view either. Solid and reliable free Internet Connection and nice selection on cable TV.

The big problem is the customer service, consistently bad. I took them almost 1 hour and 2 visits to my room in order to fix a clogged toilet (I was late for an appointment). The vallet parking is a joke: painfully slow. In one ocasion, there was four guests waiting for their cars and the guy incharge was slepping inside the locker room (adjacent to the parking lot). Bunch of lazies... The front desk had only one mission: to tell you that you are wrong and/or they cannot do anything to help you. Generally speaking. They are very good on blame on guests though. "The hotel is full, sorry about that". The maids in charge of cleaning and assistance to guests during the breakfast enjoy only: (a) chat among them; (b) give guests attitude and dirty looks 90% of the time; (c) look awfully bored of their job.

The hotel is somewhat well located, being 6-8 blocks away from the historical center and most famous New Orleans attractions.

Great location if you're attending a conference across the street. Our rooms had tall ceilings and windows. Business centre provided for all our conference printing needs. Included hot breakfast included fresh waffles!

I recently stayed at this hotel for a convention that I was attending. It was a very convenient location with a nice park across the street. Walking distance to the French quarter, canal street, Riverwalk mall. Room 416 is great for families with plenty of room, two double beds and a sleeper sofa. The hotel staff was great and very accomodating. The hotel itself is a converted mill which is very beautiful with lots of character. I will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Room 416 for families

Only needed a hotel room for one night but would have loved to stay at this great property for several more! Having spent lots of time in New Orleans over the last 4 decades and having seen many of the old abandoned warehouses over the years, it's great to see what can be done when restoring these great historical properties. The hotel has all the New Orleans atmosphere one would expect. The beautiful courtyard area and pool area, along with all the exposed brick and hardwood floor interiors epitomize historic New Orleans. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The lobby area and breakfast buffet area are certainly a step above the average Hampton Inn. Although the hotel was almost booked to capacity, it was amazingly quiet. Our room had a great view of the park across the street. We will certainly stay here again for future trips to the Big Easy.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the park have a great view.
