“Wonderful room, location and pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

My new fiance and I stayed at the Rathbone for a few nights and had a great room - suite in front of the mansion overlooking the Esplanade. We loved it! The staff was quiet however available when we needed something like wine glasses. Pat the owner/manager was also great. The private balcony from our room and the pool in the back MADE the stay - as well as a good solid air conditioner and ceiling fans and mini fridge. Location is good - close to everything - especially if you have a bike (which I recommend as THE way to get around town) without driving. Only 2 negative things were parking (not a lot of it) off street and the AC was noisy in the room - though it pumped nice cool air very well. But overall thumbs up!

Ive had to update my review after our last stay.  Unfortunately we will never be staying here again.  I booked with a young man named Christian and was assured we would have a parking space.  Something happened to Christian and alas we did not have a space and this was during Mardi Gras.  The manager was hurried and gave us a pass to park and then our car was towed and damaged.  Very upsetting to say the least.  We had stayed here before on several occasions and I had referred people here.  The maintenance man "supervised" the towing and told us initially he hadn't witnessed any damage and then other guests came to us telling us how "rough" the towing people had been to our car.  Then the maintenance man said he saw the towing guys come around and rub the car where the damage occurred.  The Rathbone assured us they would get the situation taken care of with the towing company and we left town.  Now the rathbone blames it on the towing company and the towing company blames it on the rathbone and the police say we need to come back down and take the whole mess of them all to civil court.  Do not take anyone at there word who is even remotely associated with this place.  Never, ever, never, ever will we stay here or refer anyone here.  period.

In addition to the car issue, the bathroom had black mold growing in it and there was a hole in the flooring and we were afraid to walk near it as the entire area seemed shaky.  That wouldnt have been much of a problem except it was directly in front of the bedroom and in the kitchenette.  The window sills were absolutely filthy as well.  Ive attached pictures, see for yourself.

At $350 a night for 5 nights, youd have expected them to at minimum comp us for 1 night for the damage.  All I got from this trip was a $1600 plus room bill, a $180 towing bill, and a $500 car damage bill.  Atrocious hospitality.

The Rathbone Inn is by far the best bed and breakfast I've ever visited. Not only are the accommodations excellent but so are it's staff and location. The manager, Pat was a Joy and so was our housekeeper Jasmine. The pool and hot tub were great especially with the new BYO bar. I recommend them to anyone visiting New Orleans.

This hotel was very quiet and private. The location is great, and Mrs. Pat is awesome! We had a queen delux suite that came with this great balcony and a mini fridge so we could store all of our leftovers from different restaurants. The hottub/pool area was a great place to lounge and meet the other guest. The only down fall was parking, but there were side streets that we parked and just walked a block. I would reccomend this hotel and I would stay there again.

I was sorry to have to tow these guests car, however they did park in a no parking zone and were told they could not park there, but they did anyway. As a matter of fact the man whose car they were blocking in was from Fla. and he stayed 3 hours longer waiting for them to return, we tried to reach them before the nice man had to leave and we had to tow them. After the incident, which we hold no responsiblity for, I advised the guests to call the police, they choose not too.

easy walking distance to French Quarter, City Park, St. Louis cemetary, etc. It was totally relaxing. Great salt water pool where quests became friends. The general manager, Patricia McArdle, was fount of information and help on any topic..including checking internet. Room was large and clean...breakfast always had some baked goodies. A hotel would never have been this enjoyable.
