We have stayed at several Ritz Carlton properties around the world. Though I can't say this place is bad (in fact, the staff was extremely warm, friendly, and helpful), the overall feel of this property is that they cannot possibly make this a world class luxury hotel one block from Bourbon Street. The rooms were fine with the highlight being the bathrooms - white marble, completely renovated, excellent. We were able to find a discounted rate; if the rate was a bit higher, I'd have to look elsewhere (as there are many other very good properties within walking distance). However, the location of this Ritz is fantastic (right on Canal, one block from Bourbon, walking distance to everything you could want in the French Quarter & CBD). The lobby and bar on the 3rd floor (versus the 1st) is a nice feature of this hotel - people cannot just walk in so easily from Canal. Overall, we'd stay again if we can find a good rate, but would not pay Ritz prices at this property.
