“Outstanding Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Our experience with Super 8 Hotels has been hit and miss. This one was definitely a hit. In a (expensive) town that was so ravaged by Katrina it is a stand out in its upkeep, cleanliness and rates.

The staff was very friendly and responsive, they have personnel whose job it is towalk around and keep an eye on things and they have controlled entrances to the under roof parking. It uses manufactured metal work to invoke the locality's atmosphere and is laid out in the courtyard style, which is covered atrium style, except the pool.

The abandoned skeleton of what was once a Ramada Inn stands next door on the north side and is a little scary. The local government is taking steps to find and hold the owners responsible. This is a long process but it will come down eventually. But we didn't feel particularly unsafe by its presence; just a little sad and maybe just a little creeped out.

It was convenient to everything because of its proximity to the interstate and major thoroughfares. University of New Orleans (We had an event there was less than 10 minutes, The National WWII Museum (formerly the D-Day Museum) was about 20 minutes and the French Quarter (a must see) about twenty minutes.

Rates were very reasonable, the rooms were about the cleanest I have ever been in (high end hotels included) and the facility is obviously well maintained with recent renovations evident. Couldn't ask for a more responsive and friendly staff. If there is one negative, it's that the elevators are small and we could not coax the luggage cart in with our stuff on it.

Room Tip: Choose a ground round floor room if you have lots of stuff. Arrive as early as possible to ensure c...

I traveled with my 2 daughters and felt very safe. Best way to get there is the Downton exit. Rooms were clean and comfortable with a great a/c ... Just let it run for about 30 minutes. The outside of the hotel is in an industrial area, and a bit run down, but the motel itself is just fine. Traveling on a budget, this place was perfect. I was able to spend money on great restaurants, darling boutiques, and great places instead of a major hotel bill. My kids and I loved everything on Chartres Street. The WW II museum is a must see. Pay the extra for the 4D and the submarine experience. You can have pizza
Delivered right to your room. Get a room on the 3rd floor furthest from the pool and elevator, you'll sleep great!

Yes, at first glance this hotel doesn't look like it's in the best neighborhood and there is a hurricave ravaged/abandoned establishment next door, BUT this hotel was worth the money, even if only for one night. The rooms were clean (you can request smoking or non) the decor fit the city and pool was terrific. To get to your room, you had a choice of either stairs or elevator and there was always someone at the front desk to assist, day or night. We paid $66 and the breakfast was a choice of both hot or cold AND extremely satisfying. Our family would most likely stay again.

The hotel was not in the best neighborhood but we felt safe and enjoyed our stay. We asked for a different room because we wanted 2 beds instead of one queen size bed. The hotel was booked and we were told to check back due to possible cancellation. We were in luck. Cathy Smith, the maid who cleaned our room was very personable & did an excellent job keeping our room clean. I will recommend this hotel to my friends.

Room Tip: Good hotel for the price.

For a motel, this wasn't terrible. Walls and floors were paper thin. Could not sleep all night. Breakfast was nice. One night is fine. But probably wouldn't stay longer than that. Neighborhood is pretty sketchy but that area of New Orleans isn't the greatest. We felt safe as long as we weren't out too late. For the price we paid, $67, I didn't expect too much.

This Hotel is in a very bad neighborhood. Quoted $58 online and got to hotel it was $69 -$79 a night. And nobody tells you when you book thru Bookings.com that if you if leave earlier than what you booked it for , there still going to charge you for all the days of your stay. There's security on the lot and vacant abandoned building right next door . There's another hotel named Friendly Hotel right across the street that looks like a drug dealers paradise. . We stayed here for 4 days and yes it was cheap but so not worth the daily argument with my spouse. They have a continental breakfast but if you don't get there before 7 am most of its gone, after 7 am . It's close to New Orleans and there's a bus that picks you up in front of the hotel but I would never wait for it because it looked very unsafe. Spend a little more money and go to a better hotel. When the hotel tells you to try and get back to the Super 8 before it gets dark outside , just makes you wonder. There is parking at the hotel but after 8pm it's very hard to find a spot. There is a convenient store right next door in the RV. Park in which the owner was very nice. Katrina was 9 years ago and New Orleans still looks like a dump. One and only visit.

This hotel was great! When we pulled up it looked like a little bit of a scary area but there is 24 hour security and the staff was wonderful! We felt very safe, didn't see anything sketchy and the hotel was very nice. It's an old style place which we really liked. Cathy, the house keeper, and the front desk staff were so nice and helpful. They were patient with us and helped us with getting around town. It's not too far from the main attractions as New Orleans is not that big but we did have to drive everywhere. We will stay here again if we come back to New Orleans!
