“Difficulty with group reservations”

The beginning of our stay was very tedious; The 800 number for Wyndham gave me different information about rates and tax information than the people on hotel premises and this was a very big ordeal for me; at one point we were locked out of our rooms because of this miscommunication and I had to return to the hotel from my conference to take care of it. Also, I had four rooms booked and they were not all on the same floor which was a problem, even though I booked the rooms a month and a half in advance. There didn't seem to be much communication between front desk and management offices, and every time I had a question or problem with my rooms I had to explain my situation to each person from the beginning because nobody had information. In the beginning front desk staff was discourteous to me over the phone and at registration (it was the same person both times,) but after my concerns were finally delivered to the general manager (through customer care via Wyndham's 800 number) things were much better. I believe that the general manager is invested in making a stay at his hotel a good experience but the lack of communication between departments at the hotel and with the main office makes that very difficult.

Everything was excellent. The elevator card didn't work at times. I was told those readers were being replaced. That was really the only downside of the stay.

We booked this hotel through Living Social and the deal included the room, nightly onsite parking and a $30 meal credit at the adjoining bar/grill. Although we booked a room with a king bed through Living Social, when we arrived we were given a room with two double beds. We explained that we had requested a king bed but were basically told that booking a room through a third party didn't necessarily guarantee you the room you requested. I don't know if that's true but we did ask if there were any king rooms available and were told there were none. Gene, the lovely lady at the front desk, did advise that we check back the next day regarding king room availability if we wanted to switch rooms. Sensing our disappointment, she did manage to place us in a room with a view of the Mississippi River which was a decent consolation.

While the dining credit was already attached to our room, we were told that the system did not show us having complimentary parking. This was far more frustrating than the room issue. We actually cancelled at a lovely, more highly-rated boutique hotel in the city in favor of this one specifically to take advantage of the parking as it is very expensive in NOLA. Again we were told that things like this sometimes happen when you book through a third party. In any case, Gene again sensed our frustration and honored our complimentary parking without us having to contact Living Social and get it straightened out. Thank you, Gene!

Aside from these minor mishaps at check-in, the parking garage and general location was great. The room was nicely updated and very clean and the beds were oh-so comfortable! The only real downside to the entire hotel was the elevators. Waiting for several minutes only to be unable to actually get into the elevator because it was packed was not uncommon. In the end, we would definitely stay here again. It's a quality choice!
