Dear Mr. Danziger,
I booked a two night stay at the Wyndham in New Orleans on Royal Street, was the former Holiday Inn, and recommended that our friends do the same. We booked it via Travelzoo.
This was one of the most problem prone hotel stays in my life. I am 71 years old and traveled all over the world. Including, some of your Hotels in Dallas, and Jamaica.
We arrived at approximately 11:30AM on February 2, 2014. We were told that check in time was 4PM. There was mass confusion as three out of four of the elevators were out of commission. We did not get a room until just after four. Our friends did not get a room until 4:30PM. I do not understand how it is possible not to have some rooms available prior to 4. There were only a hand full of people checking in and some were given rooms prior to us.
Once we got into the room, the bathroom floor was completely wet and was caused by a leak in the input to the commode. We had only two towels and a note to say if you needed more to call. The room was very shabby and not cleaned well at all. The toilet paper had not been replenished. The pipe fittings were nasty and rusty and there was a large tear in the curtains.
On our check out date we were presented with a bill that stated check out time was 11AM and the door that satisfied the LA law stated check out time is 12Noon. The front desk said that 11 it was. So check in is 4 and check out is 11am. What happened to 24 hour room?
All in all it was a very bad experience. We do not plan on staying at a Wyndham again, nor will be ever use Travelzoo again. We have used them twice and both times were very bad.
