“EXCELENT SERVICE AND GREAT HELP FOR OUR GROUP”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

We had a complicated group attending a medical convention recently, and our client was extremely satisfied with the hotel and its services. The group was a complicated one, with many date changes as well as names of guests and the hotel flexibility allowed us to operate it at the entire satisfaction of our client.
Sincere appreciation to Andy Le Beouf, Director of Sales who accommodated all our requests with easiness and good will.
Many thanks and we happily recommend it for your next visit!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are the best bet.

The Blake is easy to get to and within walking distance of many attractions. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We stayed for two nights and housekeeping tidied up the room while we were out. Very pleased and will return.

Easy to get to by cab from the airport and it is in a great location. You are far enough away from the craziness to sleep well but just a short walk to Canal, Bourbon, waterfront, Convention Center, and French Quarter. Seamless checkin and checkout. Probably one of the best hotels I've been to in terms of value for money.

The Blake is a smaller boutique hotel located at 500 St Charles Ave right on the uptown Mardi Gras parade route and the streetcar line. Upon entering the nicely lit lobby decorated with eclectic furnishings in shades of red and brown, we were pleasantly greeted by Sarah who assisted with our check in. She kindly acknowledged our requests for a room at a lower level facing St Charles and we were placed in room 310. Ray, the doorman, was quick to stow our luggage since we were 2 hours early for check in. We spent the time exploring Lafayette park next door and enjoying a couple of beers in the bar/restaurant, Café at the Square, located in the hotel.

Our room was 3 doors down from the elevator, nice size with king bed, desk with chair, armoire with mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot. A niche with TV and extra drawers for storage, reading lamps and comfy chairs. The bath was smallish, but acceptable and my only gripe would be that the knob for the shower had been disconnected so we had to take baths during our stay...not a huge deal. It was well supplied with toiletries and nice fluffy towels. Ray insisted on promptly bring our luggage up himself and cheerfully chatted about the Mardi Gras festivities. Shortly after arriving in our room, Carla knocked on our door and asked if our room was satisfactory and that she would be our maid if we needed anything during our stay. She was kind enough to furnish extra coffee in the next few days.

The hotel is located about 5 blocks from the French Quarter, Bourbon Street and the Riverwalk. We utilized the St Charles streetcar, right outside the door, for a trip through the Garden district, the Canal streetcar for a ride out to explore the cemeteries, and the Riverwalk streetcar for the French market and to discover Frenchman Street. Rouses Market is 3 blocks away from the Blake and is wonderfully stocked with liquor, a bakery and hot foods to go besides the usual groceries.

Since Fat Tuesday was cold and rainy we were able to view a lot of the parades from our room. But, not wanting to miss all the festivities, went out to catch a ton of beads and other goodies under the Blake's balcony. It was a nice shelter from the rain in between floats and not too crowded either. We were required to wear wrist bands for readmittance to the hotel during Mardi Gras and the security was provided by the US Marine Corps who rent the balcony and supply bleachers and food for their members and families at the Blake every year.

Because our room was on a lower level and it was Mardi Gras season, we could hear street noise and the rumble of the streetcars. Something one should consider if the commotion is bothersome, but we had no problem after the overindulgence and debauchery of Bourbon Street! LOL

In summary, I would highly recommend The Blake Hotel. It is clean, very reasonably priced, great location, free WIFI, gym and use of computers in the lobby, and the friendly employees are it's biggest asset. Thank-you Sarah, Ray and Carla for your kindness and helpful suggestions. We will see you again next year for Mardi Gras!

Located on the corner of St Charles and Poydras. It's located within walking distance of everything and only a few blocks from the Riverwalk.

The hotel inside was very nice and brightly colored and looked very updated. Our room was nice and a decent size. It included 2 beds, a niche in the wall with a tv, a desk for our computer, an armoire that opened up and you would find a refrigerator and microwave. The also had a chair and a dresser built into the wall below the tv. The bathroom was nice. The sink was located in a little area outside of the toilet and shower area. The only small minor gripe I had was that the shower varied in temperature. One minute it was hot, then it turned cold and I thought the water was running out. But, then it would get hot again.

They do have a "small" store (well, that's giving them more credit than it really is. It's more like a wall with items) at the hotel, located right beside the customer service desk. We were able to get our "soda" fix for the night there for $2 each.

They also have a wall of computers in the lobby that you could use to get on the internet.

The restaurant in the hotel: Cafe at the Square. For those of you that might consider this hotel or restaurant, they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

This hotel is located right on the street with the street cars going up and down it. There is also a park beside the hotel. The local grocery store Rouses Market is located just 1 block over and 2 blocks down. Easy to walk to and they are a full stocked grocery store.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. It was perfect from the location, the decor, the amenities on site to a great price.

Let me start by saying that the location is great. It's away from the noise of Bourbon St., but only a short walk. It's also on the St. Charles streetcar line. Those are really the only good things I have to say. When we checked in, our room was dirty. The front desk wasn't overly apologetic about it, but were friendly nonetheless. They moved us to another room, which was just okay. We couldn't get the heat to work. A man came to the room to "fix" it, but still no heat. Valet was slow. The food in the restaurant was good, but overpriced. The rooms look better on the website. There was paint peeling off of the wall, the door was dirty, our room keys took forever to work, and the elevators are slow. If I had not paid as much as I did for the room, I probably wouldn't have been so harsh on the rating, but this hotel was expensive. For what I paid, I could have stayed somewhere much nicer. The staff wasn't rude, but they don't provide the southern hospitality I expect when I come to New Orleans. We've stayed at other hotels in the French Quarter before, and this time we wanted to find a place that might be a little quieter. We won't stay here again. There are so many more options in New Orleans to choose from.

The Blake hotel was I think an exceptional value. The location was perfect- walk a couple of blocks and you are in the French quarter - block up from Bourbon Street. The hotel was modern, clean and had all the facilities we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful - Special kudos to JonTierre and Rocky on the front desk. I would have no problem recommending both New Orleans and the Blake Hotel. It was a short visit but wonderful.
