“Great B&B!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

This is a wonderful B&B in the heart of N.O. Nestled between two great areas, Magazine St and St Charles ave. and close to the French Quarter. W the home was emasculate with gracious hospitality. The owner,Jill, was so helpful and nice I felt like I had known her for years. The breakfast was over the top with cheeses, pastries, breads, jam, and fruit. Two courtyards beautifully decorated and perfect to relax. You feel like you are miles away from civilization with the tranquility. We are going back in December which is rare, we usually stay somewhere different each time we come but can't resist coming back here. We have stay in at least 20 B&B and hate it took so long to discover this gem!!!

The four of us stayed in the carriage house...what a treat...clean beautiful and peaceful...we all loved it...it was a great respite after a crazy day in the French Quarter...Jill offered suggestions for places to eat....gave us a map and guidebook and even booked an exquisite dinner at Arnaud's for us. We could not have been happier....breakfasts were delicious without weighing you down for those walking tours...the breakfast conversations alone were remarkable and it was so nice to speak to others from different parts of the country...and Jills' tale of Hurricane Katrina and how their B&B survived was fascinating...Jill and Charles are wonderful hosts and know how to treat their guests...I would not hesitate to go back their....and would quickly recommend the Chimes to anyone who asks....We will definately return....close to the streetcar and Magazine Street...a real gem......we just can not say enough about our stay......

Our friends gave us a night at The Chimes as part of a wedding shower they were throwing for my fiance and I...we lived in New Orleans for many years and will be returning there for our wedding, and our stay at The Chimes provided the perfect balance of feeling at home while also being well taken care of - exactly what you want from a BnB experience.

If you're thinking of staying at Chimes - you should! This is probably the best hosted accommodation I've ever experienced. Firstly and most importantly for me, Jill understands tea. She has teapots and four different kinds of leaf tea at breakfast - unexpected and oh so welcome in the US. Jill also has amazing local knowledge; she's astute at assessing her guests and pointing them towards great experiences - we would never have found The Spotted Cat music club or Houmas House without her and they were highlights of our Nola stay.

The bed was the best of our three weeks away and seemed to snuggle around you as you ascended (and if you're in the room with the four poster, you do ascend to the bed!) and breakfast is generous and excellent.

If you like your hospitality with a smile, a story and expert hospitality, you'll love it here. Can't recommend highly enough.

The rooms at The Chimes are cool, quiet, conveniently located, and very clean. We loved our stays in November 2011 and March 2012. Our hosts were welcoming without being intrusive, and our fellow guests included some returning New Orleans natives. The courtyard has two lovely spots in which to sit and sip wine or Abita beer, or to plan the next day's adventures (or, in my case, to grade some student papers online). If you want to experience this vibrant city while also enjoying some peace and quiet, you can't do better than The Chimes.

What a gorgeous gem of a bed and breakfast. Stayed 2 nights beginning of August. We were in a room off of the charming garden patio area. There were 4 of us (DH, DS 13, DS 15). Jilly told me when I made the reservations that the room would be tight. We didn't find this a problem at all. Off the bedroom was a small hallway/work area to the bathroom. My sons set up their computer on the desk and there were 2 chairs, perfect. The room was comfortable, quite and welcoming after exploring New Orleans all day. Off the patio is the refrigerator chock full of cold beverages, i.e., water, pop, wine, Abita beer. I was nice to drink what you wanted and leave the 'beverage donation' in the room. Great idea! The location was great, just 3 blocks off Magazine Street. We picked up the bus right at the corner. Also, there are many, many eating, drinking, shopping establishments walking distance from the Chimes. Breakfast was wonderful! Coffee, tea, juices, pastries, bread, cheeses, fresh fruit and jam. Healthy options very appreciated. We will return to this enchanting oasis!

Situated 3 miles or so outside the city centre in a leafy suburb just off the chic Magazine Street, this is a perfect location from which to explore The Big Easy. Parking is free and readily available either on the street or the driveway. Trams and buses to the centre of town are at the end of the street, and although we experienced some lengthy waits they are excellent value at $3 for unlimited travel all day (available to purchase at the B&B)

The owners joined guests for the light and excellent breakfast on alternate mornings, and were great company, providing some excellent advice on where to go & what to do.

Drinks are available from a fridge located in the courtyard at a cost of $3 for a beer/wine. The only thing missing is a swimming pool.
