This boutique hotel is in the heart of the French Quarter, walking distance to all the major attractions which tipify the New Orleans French Quarter. Although the building shows its age, it is well maintained and a true value for anyone interested in being in the heart of the French Quarter. There is a small swimming pool within the quaint courtyard which is lushly landscaped with many plants and some magnificent magnolia trees. While there is no restaurant on the premises, a continental breakfast is served int he morning and excellent restaurants are steps away. The staff is always friendly and helpful making for a very comfortable stay.

Having lived in and visiting New Orleans many times, we highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations, even by locals' standards. It was more convenient, authentic and charming than most of the five star New Orleans hotels.

We stayed on a Thursday night because we had an early photo shoot in Jackson Square on Friday. As the Place d'Armes is right across the street and gets great reviews we thought we'd give it a try. We are both from New Orleans, but neither of us had stayed at this hotel before. We wanted a balcony room so we could take some pictures with the cathedral in the background.

Our first experience with the hotel was the night bellman, Robert. He was possibly the nicest and most positive person on the face of the earth. We weren't in the best of moods when we arrived late after a full workday and a long drive, but by the time we got to our room, his attitude had completely turned ours around.

The room was much larger than we had expected with very high ceilings, perhaps 15'. Floor to ceiling windows, great morning light. Our room also had a small alcove with a large mirror and table by a window where my wife could get ready. The large balcony was fantastic with a great view of Jackson Square. It was perfect for breakfasting in the Quarter. It felt like living in the French Quarter. The room was immaculate. The bathroom was clean with a good shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Surprisingly, the room was extremely quiet and allowed us to get a good night's sleep (although granted it was a Thursday night in summertime, which is typically slow for New Orleans). The lush tropical courtyard was very peaceful. Parking, which is usually a problem in New Orleans, was convenient and reasonable. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

This was my second vist at this small hotel. It is quiet, clean, the staff are courteous. It is perfectly located at the edge of the French Quarter w/in easy walking distance to great restaurants, shops, bars if interested. Also convenient to the Riverside Street Car, which for $1.25 will take the rider to either the Convention Center or Canal Street, where you can change to another Street Car. Very safe at night- only one entrance, which leads into the small lobby, which is always staffed. Simple continental breakfast in AM. Reqest a courtyard room- very quiet-all you hear is water fountains and a few birds in the AM. Perfect, relaxing vacation.

When my husband and I booked this hotel, we got a package that included an interior room. I had my reservations about this, but we could not pass up the rate, so we booked it anyway. When we got to the room we were very pleasantly surprised. Even though we were in an interior room (a room with no windows), we were only steps away from the courtyard balcony as well as the balcony that overlooks St Anne so we never felt like we were in an interior room. Our room (323) was clean and spacious and everything was in good working order. I have absolutely no complaints about the room.
You cannot beat the location of this hotel, as stated in many other reviews. You are around the corner from Jackson Square, Cafe du Monde is just beyond that and you're only a few blocks away from bar hopping on Bourbon or shopping on Royal.
There is a small breakfast included - coffee, orange juice, danishes and croissants - which was fine with us. The courtyard is very pretty and there is a small pool with lounge chairs. We didn't have time to take advantage of the pool, but we would have if we did - the pool looked clean and the water was clear.
The staff was friendly and courteous - I have no complaints there.
Overall it was a great hotel experience. My husband and I would absolutely stay there again.

Our 11th annual trip to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. Based on a friend's recommendation and Trip Advisor, we stayed at the Place D'Armes for the first time. For the previous five years, we stayed at the Hotel Monteleone, who inexcusably raised their rates considerably.

Nothing bad to say about this place. Nice sized rooms, basic yet full amenities. Staff was friendly. I did prebook and pay in full which included a roll-a-way bed. It was not in the room when we arrived and when I asked for it, it was delivered within ten minutes. HOwever, they recharged for the roll-a-way. No biggie but a slight inconvenience.

Courtyards were fine. The balcony in the back buildings overloop Jackson Square. Nice feature. Great location... cafe du monde down the street, three blocks to the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street.

Anyway, we would stay there again.

Having chosen the Balcony Room rate, imagine my disappointment on arrival to learn I was SHARING the balcony for which I was paying extra with any and all hotel guests who weren't paying for a balcony. The general manager adjusted 2 of my 3 nights when I phoned to question the practice. The hotel was full so I was not able to have a room with a private balcony, which is what I wanted and thought I was getting.

Second trip to New Orleans, first trip to Jazz Festival. We have stayed at Place d'Armes both times and this time we brought along 3 of our adult children. Can't beat this hotel for location and service. Everything is within walking distance and it reminded us of walking around Italian cities . Their courtyard is a great place to relax before or after seeing the sights. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to New Orleans.
