“Excellent Place If You Aren't Looking For A High Rise Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

We stayed from 11-10 through 11-13. We stayed in the Junior Suite 208. We had an excellent stay. The room was super clean. We made sure we took care of housekeeping and made sure the management knew how pleased we were with the cleanliness. Everyone working there is the friendliest they can be. Keep in mind, this is a historic building and not a new high rise. Our room was huge, we had no issues with space. The courtyard and pool were right out our window. Yes, the fixtures aren't brand new, yes the bathroom was a little small, yes the furniture wasn't brand new BUT when you book a place like this I think you would understand it from the beginning. Our main happiness in a hotel room is cleanliness and this crew has it. The rest of NOLA is extremely dirty, it was very nice to come back here to relax and recover from what you do in NOLA. I would not want a room facing the road nor would I want a 1st floor room in the main building. I must also say, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. We walked everywhere and you can't find a better place in my opinion. I have NOTHING NEGATIVE to say about our stay.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are the best!

I booked this hotel based on the positive reviews in this site and others. I will start by saying that the staff is friendly and the location is truly fantastic. One block to Jackson Square, two to Bourbon St., close to everything in the French Quarter. And the building is cool with lots of history.

However, the accommodations fell far, far short of expectations. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are even smaller. Our room was hot the entire time we were there, even with the air and fan on full blast. I'm talking 80 degrees on the temp readout. In November. The shower did not drain properly, so you were standing in a tub of water. The carpet had stains and my husband killed a cockroach which scurried out from under the tv. It seems as if the standards here are just very low. Overall, we had a great time in NOLA, but I can't recommend this hotel.

We stayed here during the week of Oct 21-27. From our greeting upon check-in to check-out this place is 1st class. Friendly , attentive staff and a great quiet courtyard. We had a fabulous room with some street noise but hey it's the French Quarter. You're close to everything and it's walkable. There is a certain shall we say aroma to the FQ and you will see sights you want to see and sights you may not want to. Our only negative expierence in NOLA was we ate at Huck Finns. We were 1 of 4 tables and our food was cold and undercooked. It was worse than crappy fast food. Other than that a great time was had in the Big Easy.

Very good location. Adjacent to Jackson Square. Professional staffing with great attitude. Walking distance to everything in the French Quarter. Very comfortable atmosphere. Includes coffee, OJ, pastries. I would definitely return.

Loved our room. High ceilings, by the courtyard, gave me the feeling of New Orleans, didn't want to go to New orleans and be in a marriott, best western etc. wanted to feel a part of the French Quarter. Room was clean, beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean. Front desk was a little slow with one person working it but she was doing her best and very pleasant. Employees were more than helpful with directions, suggestions etc - next time I go I will stay there again! Couldn't find our room because the room numbers are not in order but that just added to the fun.

All staff members we encountered were very hospitable & friendly.
The beds were old/creaky and the bed coverings were dated. We had just come from the Best Western on Rampart Street, in which we had a 40" flat panel TV - this room we had a 19" CRT. Not really a big deal because we didn't come to watch TV...was just a little surprised. We booked a balcony room, which did cost more. The balcony was so cool - not the greatest view (of the building across the street), but you can see Jackson square if you look to the left. I had my coffee out there one morning and it was great. It was pretty loud at night - but it was to be expected by the street (didn't hear much noise from inside the hotel). There weren't enough outlets by the beds - both were being used by the lamp and alarm clock, so couldn't plug in the lap top and sit in bed with it (no outlets in lamp base). The bathroom was nice - we didn't have any issues with the shower head, etc. Another reviewer said they got bit by mosquitoes. I did too, but I also got bit at the BW. When I saw the continental breakfast I said "where's the rest?" It was really just the bare minimum - didn't hold us over for long. Nice grounds & courtyard. Hotel is in a great location - would stay there again.

Excellent location in the French quarter. Old school hotel. Stayed in Oct and room was excellent. On site parking was a plus as well.

Great service by everyone. Would return for sure on our next trip to New Orleans.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are great!
