“Quaint, Lovely Home-Away-From-Home with Guest Parking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

I almost always stay here when in New Orleans. The owners Alvin and Ray are wonderful, kind and helpful and know more about the city and the best places to eat than any tour guide. The Guest House is homey with a lovely, verdant courtyard where a breakfast of croissant and fruit is served every morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m.. There is no room service or anything like that but there is a community refrigerator/freezer where I kept wine and beer to enjoy on the patio with the two house cats, Stanley and Stella, as company when Alvin or Ray or my friends were busy. Coffee is available around the clock. The rooms are tastefully furnished with antiques and there is a collection of museum-quality ribbon pictures in the lobby. The Guest House is within easy walking distance of the French Quarter (I like staying away from the noise) and one of the better cemeteries (for those like me who like looking at the monuments). But perhaps one of the best draws of this B&B (besides Alvin and Ray) is the guest parking, valuable as gold in crowded New Orleans!

Room Tip: Room #12 is at the end through the courtyard in the old slave quarters and very quiet. Room #3 is lo...

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend of the Red Dress Run. It was a perfect location for the run and a perfect location for playing in the French Quarter. We were more than able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
The house itself is a marvel in and of its own. There are many small "collections" of different items in the home that are interesting to study and look over. The owners are wonderful, think Southern Hospitality to the very top of the scale! They were so very helpful with anything and everything we asked about.
We had the best time on our stay and New Orleans Guest House played a huge part in that! We will be back again in November for The Color Run!

Ray and Alvin (and Bill and Cliff) couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They and their inn evoke Old New Orleans in the best possible way. The location is perfect -- within walking distance of everything in the Quarter. And the included off-street parking is priceless. Our room was cool and cosy (in a good way), with a very comfortable bed.

The fruit and fresh croissants at breakfast is the perfect amount of food, since we go to NO mostly to eat, and we have to be ready for lunch!

The hosts had great stories to tell, and Ray sent us home with cuttings from two of their gorgeous plants and the original Barbecue Shrimp recipe.

See you in the spring, guys!

Alvin, the owner, is so very warm and welcomimg. He greets you at the door, and his knowledge of New Orleans evdnts and attractions makes him a wealth of information. The entire staff was so friendly. I'll be staying here again!

Lovely little B&B on the outskirts of NOLA...innkeepers were a wealth of knowledge and pleasant breakfast company. The place has character, just like the rest of the city! I especially loved that the bananas in our fruit plate for breakfast were picked from the tree in their back yard. Quite the novelty coming from MN. There are plenty of places to stay in New Orleans...but I would come back here again in a heartbeat. Free parking too!

My wife and I stayed for 5 days. It is a bit of a walk to bourbon street but definitely manageable. Lots of character and as the previous reviews have said great staff. Room was very quaint
The bad: The breakfast was a croissant and fruit, which was good but I could eat more. The toilet had a little trouble flushing and we had to plunge it twice.
The price was great. If you know what you're in for you won't be disappointed. Just don't expect 5* luxury or brand new facilities. This is an old hotel ran with love.

My husband and I stayed at the New Orleans Guest House during Jazz Fest and we feel we got an excellent deal. The place is quaint and charming. The hosts are all lovely. Its location is excellent, just across the street from the French Quarter and about four blocks (maybe five) to Burbon Street. Personally I wouldn't want to be any closer. Plus it was very reasonably priced, especially considering Jazz Fest was on.
