“Lobby Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

I moved to New Orleans for work in 2006. I've only ever stayed in the JW once but I've been going to the lobby bar weekly since 2006 with coworkers that were staying in the hotel. Ever since then I have been bringing my friends to get a drink from Deborah the bartender. She embodies the love of New Orleans and talking to her taught me to love the Saints, the fleur de lis, and the great food. Since then the bar was remodeled and some other great bartenders have joined the team so I continue to go for the great experience. Oh, but I miss the purse hooks since the remodel. :)

Dear Melissa P,

We're so glad you took the time to share your JW Marriott story. We've been lucky enough over the years to develop great relationships with regular visitors, and sometimes it's nice to just take a step back and reflect on all the good times.

You couldn't have picked a better go-to bar in New Orleans. Deborah, as you know, is the best of the best. Not only can she mix one of the tastiest cocktail in all of the Big Easy, but her positive attitude can also brighten anyone's day.

Your business means a great deal to us, and we're looking forward to many more years of great food, drinks, and conversation—and in the near future, purse hooks. Cheers!

Sincerely,

Cole Wallace

The hotel ws better than I had anticipated. The location is great - short walking distance to the French Quarter. Close enough to the action but not in the center of it...
The concierge and other hotel staff were very helpful when we asked for maps, directions, details on public transportation, etc.

My wife and I weren't even staying at the hotel but had a great experience. We stopped in at the bar because of a rainstorm and met George the bartender. Sure his drinks were great, sure we weren't in a hurry, but his awesome personality made us stay. As a successful businessman, I can say this to the Marriott Corp, "he needs to be training your other employees".

If you are traveling in the area, go ask for this guy

The location is fantastic - at the edge of the French Quarter, 5 minute walk to everything, but still quiet at night. The staff is so nice and thoughtful, the property is well taken care off, the rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a concierge floor which I recommend. Honestly, not one complaint! We stayed with 2 children and they were entertained by the staff, taken care off in the room, and we all enjoyed our 4 nights here. Breakfast is not included unless you are on concierge floor, but within minutes you have tons of cafes and options. The pool is small, but very enjoyable. The hotel offers free apples, waters, ear phones for working out, etc and you just feel welcome here.

Room Tip: Ask for the concierge floor if you care about free breakfast and lounge. Otherwise eat outside, ther...

We were undecided what hotel to stay at but picked the JW Marriott for our stay. We were not disappointed. The hotel is Beautiful and very Clean. The Staff was Excellent. We would Recommend this Hotel and We do plan on staying there again. We had to pay for Valet Parking but it was well worth paying for it. We felt very safe at this Hotel. The JW Marriott Hotel is a 4 Star but should be a 10 Star. We want to Thank All The Staff for making our stay the BEST. The Location of this Hotel is Great .Again Thank You to Andrew Morgan and Everyone for Everything.

JW Marriot
Came down to NOLA for 4 days of vacation and chose the JW for their stay with breakfast package. We arrived around 11 a.m. had requested early check-in and our room was ready. The lobby was sleek and modern. The staff from the doormen, to the front desk and the concierges were all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Our room was a corner room on the 15th floor with a small view of the Mississippi and the French Quarter from one window and Canal Street from the other. Because it was a corner, you walked down the hall to the closets (with mini-fridge and safe) and bath. The sink was outside and the bathroom had a toilet and shower/tub combo. The room had at least 4 mirrors (maybe 5). Bed was comfortable and room was clean and quiet. All the table tops were marble and the room had a large desk and 2 comfortable chairs and a table. Knowing it was going to be hard to eat healthy in NOLA we picked a breakfast package where we knew we could start our day off right. Breakfast was a buffet (they did have a regular menu but it wasn’t on our package). Besides the standard chafing dishes, every day they had made to order egg white omelets, Belgium waffles, bagels, lox (smoked salmon) and low fat cream cheese, a wonderful assortment of fresh fruit, low fat yogurt, grits, homemade granola and cold cereal. The front entrance and driveway for cars and taxis is on a side street and since we were walking or taking a street car most of the time we found ourselves entering and exiting through the Canal Street entrance which is next to the restaurant. My only complaint about the hotel is that there is no doorman or anyone to greet you when you enter the hotel on Canal Street and after 11 the door is locked on Canal and you needed to use your key to enter the hotel. Other than that we were very happy with our stay.

Dear Helene W,

We appreciate your detailed feedback. As a proud hotel representing the prestigious JW Marriott brand, we make it a priority to ensure that each and every detail is just right. In New Orleans, where there's no shortage of options, we believe our elegant rooms, signature amenities, and unparalleled service set us apart.

We are happy to see that you booked our breakfast package, which is known for an exceptional array of food items. It's the most important meal of the day, so we try to provide options that hit the sweet spot between healthy and decadent.

I've taken note of your concern regarding the entrance on Canal Street. Since we're always looking for ways to improve, I can't thank you enough for sharing your thoughts. Hopefully you'll choose to stay with us again during your next visit to New Orleans. No two trips are ever the same, so please let us know if we can help put together another amazing itinerary.

Sincerely,

Ted Selogie

I really liked the friendly service at JW Marriott New Orleans. Rooms were nice and clean. We had trouble with the toilet flushing and the service guy fixed it quick. Any request were fulfilled in a timely fashion whether it was room service or getting towels switched out. Our favorite part of this hotel was that there was a hotel bar with a bartender name George! Friendly guy and very helpful with places to go. We talked almost like we were old friends. He deserves a raise!!! - SF,Cali
