“Very good. Not great.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

I'm going to stop short of a rating of 5, because I simply didn't think this hotel deserved it. This hotel was very nice. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. It was nice having a newer LCD TV that I could hook an HDMI cable in. A lot of hotels still have old CRTs or special TVs with those ports disabled.

I didn't bother with room service so I can't comment on that.

The fitness center was VERY nice. Well stocked with plenty of equipment, both free weights and machine weights. Water bottles in the gym are complementary and the refrigerated towels were a nice touch.

Being right on Canal street, you've got super quick access to the French Quarter. Definitely a plus.

I ate at the Canal Street Grill in the hotel. Formerly known as Shula's Steakhouse. The food was good, but overpriced. I'll review that separately.

The hotel bar is large and drinks were poured just right.

Overall, my stay at the JW Marriott was very pleasant. Just not "fantastic".

This is a nice comtemporary hotel. Walking distance to the French Quarter and to the Casino. Friendly staff of people. Clean. Just a cvery nice place to stay.

plenty of restaurants in the area to choose from. I'd recomment the Palace Cafe, directly across the street. Exceptional rest.

Normally, I'd give this hotel 5 stars but I had some minor issues so this rating would have to settle for 4 stars.

We traveled to New Orleans from July 8th to the 12th. Our stay at the JW Marriott was wonderful! Our room on the 28th floor was well appointed with a great view of the river and the city. Close to the French Quarter, the craziness of Bourbon Street, great restaurants, Harrahs and the trolley. The bar area and lounges of the JW are so beautiful and comfortable. The fitness center and the pool area on the 8th floor are very updated. The best part of this hotel are the people. Everyone of them greet you with a smile and hello! Luxury plus customer service at this hotel is hard to find anywhere else. I felt very pampered here for my five day stay.
New Orleans is a great city. If you have not been Go!! Restaurants, museums, zoo. aquarium, live music! This city has it all! So much history here! This is now top of my list for cities to visit! Thank you New Orleans for a great experience!!

We had a wonderful stay here. Decor is very chic and contemporary. Bar area is very comfortable, staff very accommodating. Parking is expensive but it's what you find in most large destination cities. Walking distance to Bourbon, French Quarter. Deal on Priceline was amazing!

This is a wonderful JW, with beautiful rooms, and an attentive staff. Yes the parking is expensive but that is NO for you. Don't let this detract from a great stay at this property. I loved and will stay again when in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a very generous upgrade at the JW. Hotel is lovely. Staff is fantastic. Always a wonderful stay. It's a great value in the summer when Nola is a little bit hot and humid. The JW is a peaceful retreat after a busy day in the city.
