“the perfect location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We went for SuperBowl and had a great time! The hotel itself is a great location, halfway between Decatur and Bourbon, across from the French Market and other awesome restaurants. The hotel is charming. The room we stayed was the size of a bedroom, one queen size bed and one day bed. Perfect for 3 people. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was clean. Three women, with luggage, clothes and makeup fit ok in the room, not a TON of space but it worked for 3 nights. They have an ice machine but we couldn't find a soda machine. The courtyard is very nice. If you are looking for top notch accomadations, I wouldn't reccommend this as it is very 'quaint'. We loved it for it's charm and location, cleanliness and they fixed our toilet within minutes of asking. The front desk staff was very nice.

“would have been okay if i was in college...but i'm not...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

so the location is good. but the room was dirty. i wouldn't let my dog sleep on the comforter...but he probably wouldnt want to sleep in the bed either. well maybe out of fear of other critters on the floor. the matress was hard as a rock and the pillows were flat as pancakes. the towel bar was broken, the shower curtain had holes in it. we were lucky to have soap. no shampoo or conditioner, no kleenex and certainly no hair dryer. i lost my key and the desk clerk gave me another with out asking any questions as to whether or not i really should have a key (and he had never seen me before). the lamp worked if you jiggled the wire. i stayed in place like this before... but it was in rome, and i was in college... and true this one did have a bathroom. speaking of, even the toilet made a horrible sound when flushed...check out the best western, it's newly renovated, clean, and still a great location.

We are sorry that this guest was not satisfied with their stay.

It should be noted that soap, hair dryers, kleenex and shampoo are all available. Our front desk staff is friendly and accommodating, if you need anything feel free to ask.

Secondly, if for any reason you are not satisfied with your room we strongly encourage you to let us know as soon as possible. Had this guest informed us of these issues we would have responded promptly.

Third, we take the security of our guests very seriously. Our front desk was informed in advance that this person would be requesting an additional room key from us. Thus, when the request was made we complied. We may not subject our visitors to an aggressive interrogation but one can be sure that our staff are well aware of who is authorized to access a room.

Lastly, if one prefers the Best Western they admittedly might not be happy staying at a hotel like ours. We are an old family run hotel located in a residential historic district. Chain hotels provide many fantastic amenities but we pride ourselves on our friendly staff and authenticity.

“Fourth Stay and Will Be There Again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

By now, I am a committed regular. The location can't be beat in the Lower Quarter. Its on a quiet side street without the glut of drunken tourists that are elsewhere in the Quarter.

Visitors will either love it or hate it. Sure, it has some deferred maintanance issues and could use some upgrades. This is definitely not someone who is wants a full facility business or luxury hotel.

The hotel's unique charm and authenticity as well as the personalized service from the staff make this a winner!

Room Tip: Splurge and get a balcony room.

“Great value, central, within French Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Granted, the place is a little old and worn, but has its special charm and is clean. I reckon it is best value downtown New Orleans. First night I was a little cold, so I mentioned it at the front desk and Barbara went out of her way to myke my room warm and cosy. I liked the different court-yards and the old building. Look for yourself, it is worth it.

“Such a cool place, such fantastic staff, won't stay anywhere else”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

This little spot has everything I want when I visit N'awlins: (in order of importance) Great location, finest-kind folks, (Many blessings to you Warren, Vince, Barbara) free parking, amazing rates, intriguing history and COOL FLAVOR! And the free-flowing CC's coffee is just over the top! The hotel is mere blocks away to all the best Quarter hot spots. This makes ducking back to your room for quick changes, dropping off packages, potty breaks, restin' up, etc. a VERY NICE perk! Now, if you're expecting the Holiday Express or Sheraton experience, pass up Villa Convento and leave it available for us who "get" the deal offered here. It isn't spotless (like the Quarter itself!) and it's old and quirky. (Uh....again...the whole French Quarter....) But if you want to settle into some memorable character while you fall in love with the staff, don't miss my new go-to place, The House of the Rising Fun! Kudos and thanks to the Campo family from Karen and Christine!
