OK, so I was going to New Orleans with my wife for the first time in 20 years. I was determined to skip the Marriott's and Hilton's and stay at a more 'local' hotel. I scanned through Trip Advisor and found the Grenoble House. It was located in the French Quarter and a short cab ride to the World War Two museum and other attractions. There were good restaurants close and within walking distance. My mission for this trip was to enjoy New Orleans, especially the people, the sites and of course the food. The Grenoble house was a great base to work out of.
The staff were very accommodating and answered all of our questions. Parking was one block away and very easy to walk to. When I asked where I could find a good Shrimp Etoufee, they gave me the names of two places, both of which had excellent food.
The rooms we stayed in had a full kitchen, living room, and 1/2 bath downstairs. Upstairs was two bedrooms and a full bath. Each bedroom had two beds, and I really believe that 8 to 10 people could stay in this room comfortably. In addition, there was a charming courtyard very tastefully decorated with plant and palm trees.
When I go back to New Orleans, this will be my first choice of hotels.
