“Teddy Bear Tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

I took a friend and her two and a half year-old son to the Teddy Bear Tea this morning. It was so beautiful, and fun, and laid back. The staff were so patient and charming given that there were oodles of small children under foot. The characters were great fun and managed to keep a toddler entertained for almost two hours. Santa had a real beard, looked every bit the part, and was great with kids. The tea sandwiches were yummy as were the sweets which they box up for you at the end. As the irresponsible "Aunt", I also enjoyed the bottomless sparkling wine, and the commemorative champagne glass. Getting a teddy bear on the way out was just icing on little Ethan's cake. I plan on making this a tradition.

“Waldorf fit for royalty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

So glad to see this hotel restored to former glory. I remember meeting Bob Hope there many years ago. If you're yearning for that "special" Christmas experience with the family be sure to book well in advance for December. The hotel is extravagantly decorated and service in all areas is excellent. I took the whole family, including small grandchildren and everyone's needs were seen to with a flourish and a smile. This is the place for little girls in satin dresses with white ruffled socks and bows in their hair. Young men will feel comfortable in their first suits and young ladies can be young ladies. We hired a makeup artist and hairdresser for all us women and took one of the best family photos ever. Easy to imagine what this lifestyle entailed for southern men/women at a time when southern hospitality reigned.

“Nice hotel centrally located in French Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

We stayed here for a weekend in early December. Note that if you stay here during the holidays, the hotel will be crowded as they are famous for their lobby decorations. Many people bring their children here dressed up in their best clothes to take a Christmas photo. You will need to be patient. Once you get out of the lobby to your room, things are more peaceful. I stayed in one of the king suites, and it was nice. I even changed rooms twice because the first two were not what I asked for. The manager came up and made sure the last room was what I wanted. If you stay in one of the smaller king rooms, the bathrooms are tiny. It would be hard for two people to get ready at the same time in the bathroom. I found the suite very comfortable and spacious. Most of the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. One person at the concierge desk seemed perturbed by our questions, but the others were helpful. The TV remotes in the room did not work well. I found it easier to download the LodgeNet mobile app and use my iPhone to change the channels. There is no concierge lounge here for Hilton Honors members with elite status. You do get 2 free drink tickets though. If you can avoid having a car at the hotel, do it. Valet parking is expensive, and it's just easier to walk or take a cab.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms are on higher floors. There is a lot of street noise in NOLA, especially in the French...

“WOW!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

We did not stay here as it is out of our price range but it is amazing! We were there just this past weekend and went to see the Christmas decorations. It was my favorite part of our entire trip. We had coffee and listened to a children's choir sing Christmas songs. This is a must see hotel!

“Excellent hotel, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We stayed in a luxury king suite (tower 1, room number ending in "11") and were very pleased. Nicely furnished, exceptionally well appointed room with a nice view of the pool area. You are less than a five minute walk from Galatoire's in the Quarter and about ten minutes away from the Harrah's casino. There was a great deal of $$ spent on this historic hotel before its reopening a couple of years ago. Try to upgrade to a suite; it is well worth the incremental expense. We would definitely stay at the Roosevelt again. The one downside was the church bells from the church across Barrone Street if you are on that side of the hotel. It is tough to sleep in when they are chiming in the morning.
