“Nothing But the Best in New Orleans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

What a wonderful hotel! My husband and I were so happy we chose this hotel. From the minute you step into the amazing lobby, you know you’re in an historical, luxury hotel.

The service was very good. We had no problems with our room at all. The room was a bit small, but that was fine since we only really used it to sleep and watch tv. The bed was wonderful, and they had turn down service each evening leaving us with a chocolate on our pillows. The décor in the room was really nice and the shower was absolutely amazing! The shower had different water jets that you could turn on or off on the sides and also a handheld showerhead if you needed.

The restaurant Domenica is located in the hotel. They had the best happy hour, and the most delicious pizzas ever! Starting at 3pm you could get half off cellar wines and drinks and half off of the pizzas! I had the gorgonzola pizza with peaches and pecans and it was one of the most delicious meals I had on our trip.

Also, the hotel had a roof-top pool with a ton of lounge chairs and a bar. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to enjoy the pool, but it was a very nice space that we could gladly take advantage of when we return. I loved that this hotel was so historic. We checked out the Blue Room which was very cool to see.

The hotel location is great, just a quick walk from the French Quarter. Also, the streetcars stop just outside the hotel to take you to the Garden District and beyond. This hotel makes you feel very special. I think this may be the best hotel in New Orleans!

The interior of the Roosevelt reminds me of the Waldorf in New York - gilded, elegant (albeit a bit over the top, with chandeliers for days), and luxurious. The rooms are gorgeous and roomy (our king suite had two bathrooms!) and contrary to some reviews, the hotel did not seem in need of refurbishment or tired at ALL. The customer service was excellent - maybe it's just southern charm, but the staff went out of their way to assist in every way possible. The location was fabulous - one block from the French Quarter. Make sure to grab a cocktail in the Sazerac bar in the lobby - you feel as if you've stepped back in time!

I took my wife on a suprise trip to New Orleans for her 40th birthday. It was our first time there, and before leaving I reached out to the hotel for some ideas about where to go and what to do. What i received back was a very long, thoughtful e-mail from a personal conseirge named August Marsalis. Not only did he seriously upgrade our room to a place I was calling "the residence" (you know that large double-door suite at the end of the hall that you see in hotels--that was ours), he gave us numerous ideas of where to go and what to eat. He really didn't miss the mark on any of them. The hotel itself is decked out in classic NO style. It has the highest rated Italian restaurant as well as a dessert restaurant. We also very much enjoyed the pool bar and the roof of the 4th floor and went swimming one evening. Although I found the room service menu a bit limited, the room service breakfast was fantastic (eggs/continental). August even sent up a cake for my wife's birthday although I had some issues getting some forks. At the end of the day, the hotel and August made us feel not only welcomed but also as valued guests. He answered about 10 e-mails with questions from me before we arrived. I will always recommend this hotel to everyone I meet.

Lovely old hotel, wonderfully restored. We were upgraded to a suite for our anniversary. Pool and pool bar on the rooftop were very relaxing. Service throughout was polite, friendly and prompt. A very special experience.

We stayed a week at the Roosevelt in June. We paid for an upgrade to 1 Bedroom suite and glad we did. The rooms were nice, big wardrobe, good king bed and lovely size bathroom. Ray the concierge was fantastic with many great recommendations and he goes the extra mile for anyone needing any assistance. This hotel just had a great 'feel' to it !

The Hotel is one block away from the French Quarter which is great - we had no noise, but close enough to enjoy it. The 'Domenica Restaurant' was the best ever ! We really enjoyed many meals there (Whilst we are not normally Pizza lovers, all of their Pizza were to die for !!) we found it difficult to go elsewhere........ as the food was just so yummy and the service great to.

Be aware they have happy hour from 3.00 - 6.00 pm which means that meals are ridiculously cheap - but still of an excellent standard !

We just loved the hotel, the old world charm and New Orleans - we will be back in the future - Thanks to the Roosevelt Team !

The first thing I thought of when I walked into this elegant old hotel was the movie, The Shining. The valet and front desk staff were courteous and efficient. The hotel elevators were authentic antiques and claustrophobic. The rooms were small but very well appointed. The view from our small windows was terrible - a dirty neighboring rooftop and a few buildings. However the hotel is situated in central downtown within walking distance of all the action. Valet is $40 and necessary because there is not much in the way of easy parking. The gift shop was lovely also.

Great location, very nice public areas, but the attention to detail is really lacking. No shower cap in the bathroom, no hot water in shower or sink. We passed Housekeeping in the hall leaving for breakfast, when we came back 4 hours later the room hadn't been serviced. We paid for an upgrade to a suite which way way down a quiet hallway. The room was nice but kind of crowded with furniture. The property is very conveniently located to the French Quarter, easy walking distance to breakfasts and dinners. Ray at the concierge desk was helpful in pointing out places for dinner within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Insist on Tower 1 and try to get a room overlooking Bayonne Street.
