This is a grande dame kind of hotel - shiny marble, big chandeliers and history. I spent 4 nights in a mini suite. The bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable bed - ironing board, closet, flat screen, dresser, night stands, chaise and bench. The "sitting room" was a little smaller with a couch, ottomans, desk and chair, minibar, flatscreen, wetbar. I found the placement of the desk and chair near the door somewhat annoying as I often had to move the chair to properly open the door to the hallway. Ice was supplied nightly as was chocolate on the pillows and laying out of the bathrobe. The bathroom was a bit cramped, not great lighting and very little counter space. The room was very pretty and seemed well-kept although I have to say housekeeping the first 3 nights was more thorough and timely than the housekeeping on the last night. I never heard noise from the hallways and rarely from the street unless it was loud sirens.
There is free wifi for Hilton Gold members. Not sure what it costs otherwise. I did see the price tag for valet was $40/day - ouch! But, I thankfully did not bring a car.
The hotel has a lovely large fitness room with full fledged locker rooms. They even put out water and fruit for runners in the AM.
It was too cold to use the pool but the pool area was lovely. I did not partake of the hotel restaurants but there are lots of options and they looked nice.
You should go into the Sauzerac bar and try the specialty drinks. The service in the bar was efficient but a little apathetic (maybe because I was using complimentary drink coupons?). Go in anyway.
The hotel is not in the French Quarter but just across Canal St from it - easy walk to it and the streetcar line.
