“A charming little hotel in a great French Qtr. location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2010

We really enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel, less than a two minute walk from all the Bourbon St. fun. Our room was on the small side but clean, modern-looking, and quiet. The bed ranked right up there with those at some of the best hotels we've stayed at. The salt water pool and surrounding courtyard were relaxing. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The complimentary welcome beverage and breakfast at the adjoining bar were excellent. Overall, we felt that we got an excellent value for a very reasonable rate, and would definitely return here again.

We were beyond pleased with the Dauphine. We stayed in Room 316 and it was huge.(Just to note I don't think all rooms are this big but not sure. This room might have been a larger one due to it being on the end.) Check in was easy and our room was very clean. We had not one, but two private balconies overlooking Dauphine Street. Bathroom was plenty big. We even had a small refrigerator in our room.

The only complaint I have is that we were by the elevator which was loud (but it would be that way at any hotel with this type of layout). Also if you are a light sleeper you will not want a room facing Dauphine Street. There was some street noise but that's not the hotel's fault. It's New Orleans, so what can you expect? We ran the fan in the bathroom at night to drown out the noise.

The location is perfect. One block over from Bourbon (if that's where to plan to spend your time, although we didn't). Close enough to walk to everything in the French Quarter including the Aquarium and the French Market. Also close enough to Canal Street to where you can get on the streetcar to take you to the area the Audubon Zoo is in.

The pool and surrounding deck area are on the small side, but it was fine. Plenty of pool to cool off in and relax in a hot afternoon. Continental breakfast was like everyone else has said on here. It's basic stuff like oatmeal, toast, waffles. We only ate it one day. We chose to eat breakfast other places.

I was hesitant to stay at the Dauphine because we always stay at a Marriott when we travel. We previously stayed at the JW Marriott on Canal. But wanted something different for this trip. We will be staying at the Dauphine every trip from now on.

BTW, we had trouble at first booking a room with a balcony over Dauphine Street. We even called the hotel and were told told they could not guarantee a balcony overlooking Dauphine. But as time got closer to our planned visit, the website did allow us to specifically book a room with a balcony over Dauphine Street. Not sure if it was a coincidence that it was closer to our planned visit or the website was just updated to allow that choice.

My best friend and I stayed here in mid-July 4 nights and 5 days. We wanted a hotel in the French Quarter, within walking distance to Bourbon Street, restaurants, and Jackson Square. The Dauphine Orleans fit the bill perfectly! All of the above attractions were less than a safe 10 minute walk of our hotel. Bourbon Street was only about a 4 minute walk from The Dauphine Orleans.
My flight arrived in NOLA first. I got an airport shuttle for $20 one way (we split a cab back to the airport $33 for 2 people). Upon arrival, I was checked in quickly. I explained that my friend was coming in later and they had a key waiting for her at the desk. There was a minor mix up with the room. I was initially given a huge and beautiful mini suite with a pool view. The only problem is that it was a one king size bed and a sofa bed. There were two of us ladies and we needed a room with two doubles. They handled the change quickly. However, the second room was not as plush and nice. It was very clean and had a great balcony view of the street and city. However, the carpet wasn't as plush and the bathroom was much smaller. We were comfortable and happy with the room, but I think that the first room was nicer. Both rooms were in the main hotel.
The salt water pool area was very cozy and nice. It was nice sitting out there after a long day of walking around. Mae Bailey's is an onsite local bar near the pool area. It is cozy and full of locals and fun. The free breakfast is held in there. It was ok. My advice is when coming to NOLA, find any excuse you can to eat anywhere in the French Quarter. Don't waste a meal on hotel food.
Check out was smooth, but check your bill. We were charged for 4 days of parking and we had no car. It was taken care of immeadiately.
I will definately stay there again! I want to try the Hermann House premium rooms across the street. We booked the main hotel room due to a special online from the hotel. Book this hotel directly, the rates were much cheaper through them directly.
We paid $352 for 4 nights with only a credit card to hold the room. You can pay cash or charge upon departure.

After much research, I booked at the Dauphine based on price, proximity, free internet, and other reviews. I was really pleased in most areas. The king room at the Hermann House was amazing, with exposed brick walls and a very nice finish. We were near the entry gate, so we heard that bang open/closed all night, but I didnt really mind....other people would find it loud and annoying. Street noise compared to Bourbon was great. Service was great. Free wireless internet. Kinda small bathroom, but it had a nice jacuzzi. Overall I was extremely pleased and would stay here again for sure.

Over all the hotel does a good job. The continental breakfast is good and the linens are clean. However, when a wake-up was requested, the call never came. Also, I requested a porter to help with luggage, waited thirty minutes and finally gave up.

I booked this hotel for my first stay in New Orleans for the location in the French Quarter. I was pleasantly pleased by the quality of the hotel and staff. This is a wonderful property to stay at and is competitively priced. The Dauphine is very clean and modern with a lovely courtyard and salt water pool. The Breakfast room was quaint and the complimentary continental breakfast was good... especially the make it yourself Belgium waffles.

The Dauphine is one block away from Bourbon Street and all the liveliness but without the noise or congestion which is nice.

I would definitely recommend this hotel !!.
