“Research pays off!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

We stayed at the Dauphine Orleans Hotel from September 24 to September 28 2009.
My husband and I and his brother and wife had the most wonderful time.

We chose the Dauphine after many hours of research about the hotels and even just about the Dauphine itself.

We had the 1st floor(upper) suite, room #243, in the Hermann house which is the best room in the hotel i think! It was the entire top floor of the building. The courtyard over in the Hermann house is quiet and peaceful. We had a huge sitting area and a bar with fridge. There is an ice machine right ourside the rooms in the courtyard which makes it great for entertaining in this room.

The room has all the old shutters on the windows and doors, great A/C, great comfortable bed, clean bathroom with great shower.

My husbands brother and his wife had room # 129, a premium room which was the best smaller room in the Hermann courtyard.

Be sure to eat at the some of the best restaurants in town!

Oysters were great at Acme, Grilled were wonderful, lots of tasty juices for dunking fresh bread, and the raw were great too. Mmmmm!

Opposite the Acme is Felix's used to be good now terrible!!! No, TERRIBLE! So bad not just the flavour and way they cook them but i was litterally ill that night, and would not recommend even trying there.

Mr B's, must have the $1.50 Bloody Mary's and Martini's at lunch accompanied by the Fantastic shrimp dish BBQ sauce,. oh my and their fresh unlimited read to saok it all up, you get a bib so don't worry about the mess just enjoy!

Bon Tonn, Phew! Turtle soup best in town, better than Commander's, and the Crab au Gratin was amazing.

Irene's, just great, atmosphere food everything. Call in advance , early and book, people are not aware you can do this, don't turn up you will wait a long time!
Dont leave without having the hazelnut chocolate desert.

Lots more to mention but making my mouth water, so i'll stop!

The bar in the Dauphine was great after a night out eating etc, quiet and comfortable.
Try the Turbodog Ale, especially if you are English or like Guiness or strong beer. GREAT local beer!

All in all a great location hotel worth paying extra for better room and definitely stay in the Hermann house.

Staff was very helpful. The comfortable bed and ability to control room temp. were great after walking around in the heat. We were quite satisfied. While there is no restaurant, the complementary breakfast is nice, there is a bar attached and there are tons of restaurants within easy walking distance.

this was the first time I have stayed at the Dauphine. I will cover the negative first. The elevator is in need of an update...other than that it was a wonderful expirence!!!! The staff was all couteous, fun and accomodating. They are definatly the reason we would stay here again. The rooms are clean and roomy. The beds are comfy (although I was not used to the Terapedic mattress).

The location of the hotel was perfect, just a block away from Bourbon street but yet it was quiet. Our reception clerk, Deondra, was very helpful and couteous. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are nicely appointed.
The breakfast, included in the price, had a great variety: waffles, toast, yogurt, fresh fruit...just the thought of not having to worry about which restaurant to go for breakfast made the start of the day easy.
Tip: DON'T BUY THE AIRPORT SHUTTLE TICKET...it costs only $33 for a taxi from the airport to the hotel, instead of the shuttle that cost $30 but makes lots of stops at other hotels before getting to yours. We were on the shuttle for about one hour after arriving in NOLA. Waste of time. Unfortunately, we had bought the airport shuttle return already. We know better next time.
Overall, this hotel is great and has all the amenities needed.

This was our first trip to New Orleans, and certainly won't be our last! Although this boutique-like hotel does not boast as many stars as some higher end chain hotels, they def. deserve more! We were drawn in by all the reviews on the location, the speedy and friendly check-in, and the amazing nights sleep you'll get on one of their Tempurpedic mattresses! It was all that we expected, and more. We were able to check in 3 hours early, were greeted by the friendly, helpful staff and given 2 free drink cards. The location was perfect, the swimming pool was soothing and always available, and there was even a jacuzzi across the narrow street ( just bring your room key) We met some great couples our first night there, and really spent some time enjoying ourselves around the hotel for a bit. The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice perk as well and had a waffle maker, fancy teas, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, grits...etc., etc! The only thing that would make our stay better, was if the hotel was available in April for the Jazz Fest!

This is my preferred hotel in the French Quarter. It's close to Bourbon, but far away enough that it's quiet. Directly across the street is the Deja Vu bar, which has breakfast 24 hrs., a good thing when you're out late in the Quarter. Rooms are on the small side, but who's staying in their room in the Quarter?! Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Each time I've stayed, I've been given a coupon for a free drink in the hotel bar. This trip that drink also included complimentary Zapp's potato chips. Breakfast is also provided, but I've never tried it...the one time I looked, it seemed to be mediocre hotel bagel fare, and I'd rather get an omelet across the street at Deja Vu. Valet parking is swift, no wait (long waits at the Monteleone for parking...LONG!). Front desk staff was friendly and upon check in, our room was immediately changed when we discovered it was right next to the elevator. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We've stayed at this small hotel on previous occasions and keep coming back.
The price is right, the service personnel are great, the rooms, although small, are well kept and comfortable.
The best part is, you are close to Bourbon St (one block) but not too close. You can't hear the noise, music, shouting or sirens. You are within walking distance to everything in the French Quarter.
The room rate includes an adequate continental breakfast. The off street parking, a must in NO, is pricey, as it is with every hotel.
We enjoy our stay here eveytime.
