We stayed at the Dauphine Orleans Hotel from September 24 to September 28 2009.
My husband and I and his brother and wife had the most wonderful time.
We chose the Dauphine after many hours of research about the hotels and even just about the Dauphine itself.
We had the 1st floor(upper) suite, room #243, in the Hermann house which is the best room in the hotel i think! It was the entire top floor of the building. The courtyard over in the Hermann house is quiet and peaceful. We had a huge sitting area and a bar with fridge. There is an ice machine right ourside the rooms in the courtyard which makes it great for entertaining in this room.
The room has all the old shutters on the windows and doors, great A/C, great comfortable bed, clean bathroom with great shower.
My husbands brother and his wife had room # 129, a premium room which was the best smaller room in the Hermann courtyard.
Be sure to eat at the some of the best restaurants in town!
Oysters were great at Acme, Grilled were wonderful, lots of tasty juices for dunking fresh bread, and the raw were great too. Mmmmm!
Opposite the Acme is Felix's used to be good now terrible!!! No, TERRIBLE! So bad not just the flavour and way they cook them but i was litterally ill that night, and would not recommend even trying there.
Mr B's, must have the $1.50 Bloody Mary's and Martini's at lunch accompanied by the Fantastic shrimp dish BBQ sauce,. oh my and their fresh unlimited read to saok it all up, you get a bib so don't worry about the mess just enjoy!
Bon Tonn, Phew! Turtle soup best in town, better than Commander's, and the Crab au Gratin was amazing.
Irene's, just great, atmosphere food everything. Call in advance , early and book, people are not aware you can do this, don't turn up you will wait a long time!
Dont leave without having the hazelnut chocolate desert.
Lots more to mention but making my mouth water, so i'll stop!
The bar in the Dauphine was great after a night out eating etc, quiet and comfortable.
Try the Turbodog Ale, especially if you are English or like Guiness or strong beer. GREAT local beer!
All in all a great location hotel worth paying extra for better room and definitely stay in the Hermann house.
