“Great location, staff and accommodations!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

We check numerous reviews before finding this hotel which has exceeded our expectations. The location was excellent and accommodations were spacious and better than average. The king size bed and bedding were very comfortable and the air con worked exceptionally well.

The breakfast buffet was second to none and offered a surprising assortment of fruit, yogurt, cereals, eggs, sausage, waffles and a variety of baked goods.

The staff were genuinely friendly and always available to suggest local restaurants/tours that they recommended and even assist with making reservations.

All of the staff at the hotel from maintenance, ballet, front desk and housekeeping staff were so pleasant to talk with and would assist in anyway possible.

It's been some time since I've witness this kind of southern hospitality at its best. Thank you the great getaway.

Nice accommodating employees, beautiful courtyard/pool area. Comfy beds. Convenient walk to French qtr. Excellent valet.
Tthe only negatives: our room view was alley & brick wall .
The bathroom was way too small to really be considered handicap accessible for wheelchair.
Bar smelled like bourbon st. But drinks good.

Loved my stay here - nice, quiet location just off the beaten path. The pool area could have used more seating, but the pool was nice & cold. Room was a good size. The bathroom was a bit utilitarian. Any employee we encountered was super friendly. The breakfast was decent, but why eat in the hotel when I can have hot & fresh beignets just a few blocks away? My only complaint is that the garbage truck noise coming in from the parking lot was pretty loud.

I'll definitely return the next time I'm in New Orleans.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't overlook the parking lot if you're sensitive to noise.

A large group of us stayed at The Dauphin Orleans-Herman House for a class reunion. The staff was super accommodating and catered to our every need. Kim was so helpful in arranging our stay over a several month period. When we checked in we asked for a dinner recommendation from the desk clerk and were directed to a restaurant just down the street that was a perfect introduction to our stay in NO. The arrangement of the hotel lent itself perfectly to our needs; the breakfasts were very good and the breakfast room lent itself to informal morning gatherings of our group. Our room was on the street side with a balcony overlooking Dauphin Street-somewhat busy and noisy, especially on Saturday night, but definitely a bit of "local color" ! Walking to just about anywhere in the French Quarter was no problem. I would easily recommend The Dauphin Orleans to anyone looking for a smaller, friendly, convenient stay in NOLA.

Room Tip: Ask for a courtyard room, not a street side balcony.

If you like quaint, cozy place to stay this is it in the heart of New Orleans. Staff very efficient and friendly. Pool, fitness center and beautiful garden/patio areas to relax. Walking distance to many attractions in French Quarter, etc.

Room Tip: This is an old bldg./hotel. Updated and very nice but you can sometimes hear outside noise

Our 50th class reunion could not have been any nicer. The Hermann House and Dauphine Orleans bent over backwards to accommodate our group, and it was wonderful. The hotel arrangement lent itself well to gatherings in the courtyard, the breakfasts were great, walking places was easy—all in all a memorable experience. Rooms were very nice. . .slept very well.
Mike, the valet who helped me in and out was the BEST. Bless him.

This was a great experience from the moment we arrived. The service here is unbeatable! When we checked in I had a special request, I wanted to pay for the room on my credit card but the parking and any other incidentals on debit card. The gentleman who checked me in was very accomodating and so socialable. When we got to our room I was thrilled. I had read the rooms were small but this was not the case and we had a balconey that faced Dauphine Street. I loved sitting out on the balconey and relaxing after a long day exploring the French Quarter. The pool area was nice, yes they allow smoking here but the couple of times we were at the pool there wasn't anyone smoking and we were always able to find a chair. There was a family there one night that must have been European and allowed their young child to use the pool without a bathing suit. My kids (13 & 11) were not thrilled with this and refused to use the pool until they left. It may be OK to do that where they were from but they should refrain when they are here since it isn't our custom and may make others uncomfortable like it did my kids. The location of the hotel can't be beat. It is just 1 block from Bourbon Street and within waking distance to all of the French Quarter attractions and St. Louis Cemetary #1 (where the Voodoo Queen is buried). We didn't have any problems with noise although the garbage trucks do come through very early in the morning and you can hear them if you are facing the street. If that is a problem for you you may want to get a room facing the courtyard/pool area instead. The one issue I had was the smoking that our neighbors did on the balcony. The first night we were there and they started smoking on the balcony the smoke came into our room (the doors facing the balcony don't seal tight) we called down to the front desk and they immediately walked outside and called up to them to stop smoking. The next day I smelled smoke when I got out of the shower so I suspect they were smoking in their room and our last night there I smelled smoke in our room so strong my allergies kicked in and I couldn't sleep due to sneezing. They have signs in the rooms that smoking isn't permited and violaters will be fined $250 or asked to leave but I wonder if this is enforced? Otherwise it was a great stay and we would stay again.
