“Great Hotel in French Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

The Dauphine Orleans is in a great spot relative to Bourbon Street and great restaurants in the French Quarter. The hotel has a really neat history (don't want to spoil the story, but make sure to read the brief history in the hotel books in the room).

Room Tip: Suggest a room in the main part of the hotel closer to the center of the property. We stayed in the...

We love this little hotel. It's steps from Bourbon St and all the crazy action but quiet. Surrounded by great restaurants, antique shops, jewellery shops, bars and cafes. A short walk from the square and the cathedral. A stroll to the French Market.
The rooms are spacious with King beds, a little shabby but who cares. The staff are very helpful. Take their tour recommendations.

The hotel is very nice. We got a good price through Hotel Tonight and we are more than satisfied. Memory foam bed, plenty of towels, quiet, in other words, just perfect for what we wanted. There are several connected building with courtyards and pathways between them. It gives you the feel of exactly how old the buildings are. Its location is prime as well. There are lots of excellent restaurants and music venues within an easy walk. Besides, they have a few ghosts.

For our first visit to New Orlean, I have to admit I was a bit sceptical and wasn't sure what to expect for a hotel in downtown NOLA - however, I was blown away by the charm and exceptional character of The Dauphine and would definitely stay again! We stayed for 4 nights across the street in a Premium Hermann King Room. The exposed brick walls and ceiling beams added so much character to the room. Complimentary breakfast and wifi were a bonus. Very clean and great location. Amazingly quiet given how close to Bourbon St the hotel is.

Room Tip: The Hermann rooms across the street have fantastic charm and a lovely courtyard garden.

We stayed for 5 fantastic nights in May for our daughter's wedding with everyone having travelled from the UK. We could not have booked a better hotel. Our block booking of 9 rooms was arranged through Kim who was marvellous. We had a premium carriage room and our daughter a superior carriage around the same beautiful courtyard with delightful verandas. All the staff were friendly and efficient and made our stay a joy. Particularly Aisha, Alvina, Angel and Paul and all the bar staff.
The pool was a great place for us all to meet up and relax, as was the bar which is so quaint and authentic. And the perfect location to explore the French Quarter. When we visit New Orleans again it is definitely the Dauphine for us!

We had a wonderful stay in this charming hotel in the French Quarter. The staff was very helpful, as well as friendly and courteous. The complimentary breakfast was very good. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. We will definitely stay here again.

So my husband and I are from Houston and we have often gone for a getaway trip to New Orleans. We usually drive so we don't have to worry about getting a cab and we can drive to all the places that are not as touristy. We stayed 3 nights, 4 days and it was so nice. We opted to stay in the Herman House across the street. It has a cute little courtyard that shares to the Carriage House, fountain, seating area, and best of all a hot tub. We did indulge in it on the first night and were surprised no one else took advantage. I was a little weary about bacteria, but it appears by all the warning labels of the chemicals they use to clean it daily, I had little to worry about. It was very quiet and nice. We took advantage of the pool and I believe we actually fell asleep for a short bit one morning. No one else was there, so it was like a little private pool for us. The bar is cute and the free breakfast was convenient. It's not scrambled eggs and bacon, but more waffles, yoguart, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, sausage patties, and muffins. Not bad for just getting something in your stomach. We loved the bed!! More comfortable than our own and we are bed snobs. The only little issue we had was the fridge wasn't really cold enough, so left overs began to smell a little, which we soon trashed. The valet guy (Jereld, I think?) was awesome. We walked all over and this was in the perfect spot. This is definitely our favorite hotel we've stayed at yet and we will be back.
