“Great Place, shakey start”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

First the positive; terrific location-can walk everywhere, not noisy, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast included
Now the glitch; we were in a ground level room around the corner from the pool, though spacious, the door did not lock from the inside, the hand held shower did not work, (spa tub w/o grip handles), the two windows in the bedroom were shuttered closed from the outside so the room was dark, and the overall lighting was on the low side. Problem solved. We were relocated to an upper level room with windows, double-door balcony, (though overlooking the parking area),good light and a shower. It actually brought the cost down.

Room Tip: Ask for specifics: make sure you get the things you expect, like a shower.

This place oozed charm and character. Cute building and rooms, beautiful courtyard with the pool. Even the breakfast area felt like a European B&B. Our room was pretty spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we had windows that opened into the courtyard. The gym had lots of free weights and a fairly new treadmill, bike, and elliptical. Breakfast had plenty of options and incredibly accommodating staff. I heard a man grumble about not having any sausage... a breakfast staff member returned 5 minutes later having made a whole plate of sausage just for him, about 5 minutes before breakfast closed. Front desk staff was equally nice.. overheard the concierge reserving lunch for an elderly couple at the restaurant down the street, and then offered to personally escort them there when the man seemed confused about the location. Even with $32/day for parking, it was definitely worth the price. You also get a free drink at May Baily's (cute attached bar) upon check-in. I would totally stay here again.

My daughter and I enjoyed our visit thoroughly thanks to the helpful and friendly service at Dauphine. There were plenty of good choices for the complimentary breakfast and the sunny pool and patio made for a quiet respite after walking around the French Quarter soaking up the atmosphere of this charming historical area. Yes, the chlorine odor was a bit unpleasant in the morning, but at least you know the rooms are being cleaned!

Room Tip: We had a fourth floor room on the street, but the back would have been quieter.

Had a great time at Dauphine, which is in a great location to put you close (walking) to TONS of great stuff, but far enough that you cannot hear Bourbon Street! Balcony was nice. BEST part was the very helpful front desk staff, they were great. Did not have the best time at the hotel bar, but who needs to hang out there when there are so many other places nearby?

Would return. Room was clean, housekeeping was sufficient, price was decent, no complaints.

Great location, just around the corner from Bourbon, so near the action, but not as crazy. Such friendly staff, especially Aisha and Jared. Our room was spotless and comfy. May Bailey's is a homey little bar where you can relax and enjoy a cocktail after a day of walking around. Also, Bayona restaurant across the street is tremendous and becoming one of the best known gems in New Orleans. Been here before and will certainly return. Ours was a girls' week, so the perfect location suited us, but, because it's off Bourbon, it's also appropriate for couples, children and older folks.

This was the second time we stayed at the Dauphine and the accommodations, staff and service were just as good as the first time. The location is great in that it's easy to get to off of I-10 and it's on the edge of the French Quarter so that you can walk everywhere without being in the midst of all the loud revelry. The beds are fabulous - I slept better there than in my own bed at home. My only complaint is that parking at the hotel is extra and is very expensive but I guess that's just the way it is in the French Quarter.

The customer service is outstanding & staff cannot do enough for you. Overall, the place is nice with a great salt water pool and location. I would give this hotel a higher rating if it weren't for the very strong cleaning product odor.
