“Lovely, picturesque French Quarter hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I'd never been to New Orleans before, and I wanted a boutique hotel that really captured the charm of the town. The Dauphine Orleans hotel did this beautifully. It's located right in the French Quarter and has a really quaint breakfast room (the bar for a former bordello). I particularly liked the wooden shutters on the window, instead of the standard hotel-issue drapes. The view from my room included the iron lace and hanging ferns on the balconies across the street. The rooms are clean and modern (white duvet covers on the bed, flat-screen TVs, free wireless internet). The in-room safe is large enough to accommodate an iPad (but not a laptop) and worked well. The hotel staff were wonderful - very welcoming, friendly, and happy to assist guests. It was a lovely place to stay.

The one thing I'll note is that I stayed in a room near the elevators, and the elevators chimed quite clearly and loudly every single time they opened. I brought some earplugs with me, so this wasn't a problem, but I think almost anyone would need earplugs to sleep in the room. As long as you have them, though, the room is fantastic.

Room Tip: The elevators chime clearly, loudly, and with each opening. If you end up in a room near the elevato...

We have stayed here on three occasions, but this was the best. The hotel continues to improve. We had two carriage house rooms - lots a space, comfortable bed, and huge jetted tub. The front desk staff is professional and very responsive - I had two small issues that the management and staff handled expertly. The breakfast room is very nice with all variety of food choices. We feel safe and secluded even though the action on Bourbon is just a block away. The are several good restaurants just a short walk off. We will be back.

If you are looking for the real New Orleans then stay at the Dauphine Orleans!! We just got back from a wonderful weekend getaway for our anniversary. Our party had 2 rooms in the Hermann House owned by the Dauphine. Once we stepped into the courtyard it was like stepping back in time! The rooms were wonderful, clean and spacious. And the beds....they were so comfortable, better than home. The best part of this hotel was the staff, they could not have been more friendly or helpful. On our first night our TV would not play pay for view movies, we called the front desk and they were on it immediately. Curtis from maintenance tried for several hours to get it up and going (he was more entertaining than the movie would have been!!). They tried again to fix it Saturday but it still wouldnt work so being very generous they credited us one night of the valet parking much more than the movie would have cost!!! We will definitely be staying here again. And just a note for all the ghost lovers....you will not be disappointed, we had some pretty cool experiences and a few "interesting" photos!

We recently stayed at the Dauphine Orleans for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Staff was so amazingly nice! Room was surprisingly quiet (thought for sure that we would get no sleep being right off Bourbon St.). I would definitely stay here next time I'm in New Orleans!

We stayed at the Dauphine Orleans hotel for a weekend getaway/anniversary. What a sweet place! The layout of the hotel is unique, and I had a bit of trouble figuring out which room to choose ahead of time, (we wanted quiet, limited street noise). We chose the Carriage House Premium King, and it was perfect. It's located in the interior courtyard of the hotel attached to the fitness center, ground floor. The beds are really comfortable, with Tempur-pedic mattresses, so we slept great. Mostly, the staff is what makes the place so special. All of them, from the desk staff to the valets, were extremely helpful and friendly. They helped us with our dinner reservations, even helped us store some plants that we bought. (not easy, they were big). This is our fifth trip to the NOLA area, we've stayed in great hotels, this is definitely one of them.

Room Tip: Carriage house was quiet

Customer service was good- great valet service. Paid for the superior king balcony room- little bit of a disappointment. Couldn't get out to the balcony- window would not open up enough. And the window did not close- which meant for a lot of street noise. But excellent bed! Continental breakfast was great! Pool looked good but too cold to get in. Great location. Nice but probably will stay somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Maybe choose a different type of room.

We just concluded our 4 nights stay here, and it met all my expectations. The rooms (we had 2) were very clean and beds very comfortable. Our room was quiet throughout our stay (we were on the top floor). The front desk were consistently delightful, allowing us to check in before 12 noon upon arrival. It's also a great location, just one block off of Bourbon Street, but a whole other world in terms of peace and quiet. The Continental breakfast was fine with a variety of selections to please most people, and they serve it till 10 am M - F and 11 on the weekends. Drawer space was somewhat limited in our room as someone else pointed out - they should put a decent size chest of drawers in the rooms. I would definitely come back here.

Room Tip: Non- balcony rooms looked to be larger.
