“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

Pros:

-Perfect location - one block from Bourbon street in a safe area. You can't hear the noise on Bourbon street either, which is great. We walked everywhere in the two days we stayed and only took a cab one time.
-The price is awesome for the location. Other hotels in the same area were a lot more expensive
-Fantastic customer service. Everyone working was very friendly
-Free drink coupons upon check-in and free bottled water in the room; this became very handy!
-Free continental breakfast - wasn't amazing by any means, but good enough to grab if you need something quick and don't want to walk to another place. Waffles, sausage, hard boiled eggs, pastries, fruit, etc
-Rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfortable! Lots of towels provided (you don't see this very often)

The ONLY con:

-The noise. Our room was on the second floor facing the parking garage - big mistake. Both mornings (Friday and Saturday) around 7 AM it because very noisy right outside our window. Loud, screeching noises (maybe the garbage truck and/or construction, we had no idea what it was) and valet guys talking and yelling at each other in extremely loud voices. It didn't seem like they had any regard for the guests in their hotel that were sleeping just a few feet away from the garage. This caused us to be unable to fall back asleep at all, which was disappointing considering we were on vacation and had stayed up into the wee hours the night before. In hindsight we should have asked to move rooms, but we were only there two days and didn't want to mess with it.

Overall we had a great time and will stay there again next time, but request a quieter room! :)

Room Tip: Ask to be in the quietest section possible! Don't get put in a room that faces the parking garag...

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

I really like this hotel. We were 2 adults, a teenager, and a 5 year old. Our room was in the back and it was perfectly quiet and clean. Not terribly large, but comfortable. The breakfast was nothing to write home about but we were satisfied. The location was good and close to everything we wanted to see and do. There was a discrepency on our bill when we checked out. Make sure you you print out the confirmation with discounted rate if you have one, if booking in advance. It was fixed immediately and easily with that one piece of paper! The staff is great!

Room Tip: Back room was quiet.

“An enjoyable small hotel experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

I was part of a large group that stayed at the Dauphine Orleans over a long weekend in early February. The hotel is in a very nice location, within walking distance of restaurants like Acme Oyster House, Eat, Jagerhaus, Oceana Grill, Desire Oyster Bar, and Deanie's. One short block and you're on Bourbon (but you don't hear the noise) and one more to Royal. The staff was very friendly and helpful, often offering their assistance even before you could ask. The rooms are fairly small (main building), but clean. Our room faced the parking garage, so there wasn't much to look at from our balcony. The memory foam mattress was very comfortable. The bar (May Bailey's) makes for a nice meeting place and the bartender, Sarah, does her job well. The breakfast was more than continental but not a full spread (waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereals, fruit, yogurt, bagels, etc.). The breakfast area opens at 6:30 AM on weekdays and 7:00 AM on weekends, so early risers like me don't have to wait for that first cup of coffee (however, there is a cup-at-a-time coffeemaker in the room). I was expecting the hotel to be a bit more upscale. There are improvements they could make in the way of general maintenance that would give the place more appeal, but it was still an enjoyable small hotel experience.

“CLEAN Comfortable Stay in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

I was just in New Orleans the last weekend of Jan 2012. I chose the Dauphine off of Trip Advisor and I wasn't dissappointed! The outside was charming in the typical French Quarter style. The Pool area was quite charming as well and was located in the interior courtyard with balconies looking down on the pool.

I stayed in the main part of the hotel and the room was modern and above all CLEAN!!!!! and was nicely furnished. The maid service was great, and very attentive when you call. The coffee and bottled water was a great amenity.

They gave us towels aplenty, a blowdryer and a safe (which we didn't need because we felt that safe in this hotel). I can't stress enough how clean and new everything was.

Our room was ready when we arrived at 11AM on a Saturday morning. It is 2 streets away from Bourbon Street, so close enough to be near the craziness but far enough to not even hear the night life.

Staff was very friendly and got us cabs when needed. It is about 7 minutes from Jackson Square if you walk fast, 15 minutes if you walk slow.

We slept through the night and morning without any noise waking us up.

The 'Deluxe Continental Breakfast' was a little lacking, but it was free and the coffee was good, and they had 'to go' coffee cups.

Room Tip: The main hotel area was very clean and modern.

“Cozy, comfortable, and great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

Spent a total of 13 nights at the Dauphine, pre and post cruise with NCL. Most staff were excellent, friendly, and willling to stop for a quick chat. Had some small issues with our room and both were attended to quickly. We spent our pre cruise nights in a balcony room over Dauphine Street...too noisy most nights for my liking but our pre teens slept through the bar crowds heading home. The weather was also a bit lower than average some day so to sit on the balcony required a blanket. Nothing special about the continental breakfast, waffles, hard boiled eggs, sausage, breads and pastries, fresh fruit, cold cereals, yogurt, juices and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. Almost no variety in the choice of fruits or pastries over the 10 days we initially spent. The rooms were clean, quiet in terms of hotel noise, but unfortunately the balcony doors do not keep out the street noise very well. Regular room amenities...coffee, free wi-fi, refrigerator (in the balcony room), robes, hairdryer, soaps and shampoos (no body/hand lotion). The beds were very comforable! We found the location great, close to everything we needed. The most disappointing part of our stay was THE POOL IS NOT HEATED as advertised!
While in NOLA we rode the trollery cars to uptown/garden district as well as to City Park for Celebration in the Oaks (ok, was expecting more spectacular), made a visit to the zoo (excellent), the aquarium (interesting), the insectarium (very educational), took a plantation/airboat tour (well worth the money), managed to see the Saints at the Superdome (wow, but not impressed with the fan who blew his noise maker in front of us and wouldn't stay seated), ate at many great restaurants and heard alot of great music! I would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms not recommended for light sleepers!
