“Nice hotel, great location, recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2011

I stay in lots og hotels and rarely am I impressed at this level. First of all it's well located, secondly it neat, unique and a nice place to stay. Upgrade to a balcony room, it's worth it. The breakfast is basic but adequate. The only downside is they smoke in the bar. But as there are more bars per area than almost anywhere else in the world within metres of the hotel, it didn't matter.

I'll be back.

THE GOOD:
Location: It's close to Bourbon and close to Canal, but quiet.
Property: Pretty! Courtyard is nice, everything was new.
Breakfast: Decent!
TV Stations: Pretty large variety

THE BAD:
Service: The maids leave VERY early, so if you sleep late, there'll be none. I had to wait a very long time for the front desk person to show up when I checked in. We had a problem in our room with our TV and I called them to fix it, which they said they would. They did not.

Shower: We were in room 212 I think? It was a handicapped room. We did not ask for a handicapped room. The shower was not really suitable for a non-handicapped person as the head was at my chest level (and I am 5'6"). There was no bathtub.

Noise: The handicapped room is located right next to some employees only section. I don't know what's stored there but it involves a lot of moving things around loudly. Every morning at exactly 6:29AM, the tv went off at FULL BLAST. We have no idea how that happened or how to change it, but the staff said they'd fix it and it was not fixed.

Pool: The pool looks way larger on the website. it's pretty small. I've only been in a saltwater pool on a cruise ship and this was definitely not salty like seawater (as that was). It was also kind of dirty--stuff floated in it. It was usually very crowded and although it's tiny it would have been okay for laps if people hadn't been in it.

Room Tip: don't get the handicapped room!

My husband and I stayed at the Dauphine on our first trip to New Orleans and we couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in the Hermann House and our room was wonderful...comfortable bed, balcony overlooking the street, and great decor. The location is PERFECT...close to everything but far enough away so that the noise is not as much of an issue (we did have some street noise since our balcony overlooked the street but it wasn't enough to deter us from going back). We will definitely be staying here on our next trip to NOLA!

Reading the other reviews I feel we stayed in the same room as DallasTxTravel but with a different experience, perhaps we're just heavier sleepers? Granted it was annoying having to negotiate our way around the pool users to get to our room but aprt from that there were no issues of noice or nuisance. I found the hotel's location to be superb only one block from Bourbon but amazingly quiet. Staff were really helpful and although the wobbly shower tap's still wobbly it was fixed within 10mins of us raising it with the front desk. Only real letdown was breakfast where the amount of hot food on offer was extremely limited and variety wasn't great, I like American breakfasts hence only 3*.

We were 11 females from the Family celebrating my birthday. The hotel was friendly, clean and well located. Buffet breakfast was nicely done. Staff went out of their was to please. Small pool was a nice place to gather. The bar room was cozy and cool, and Jennifer the barmaid was a fun gal. We'd go back again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

We stayed at Dauphine Orleans for one week and it was the most relaxing, comfortable and accommodating travel experience ever, and my husband and I travel quite a bit. The service is impeccable, the rooms are super clean and cozy, the bathroom was enormous and so was the bed. The staff are so friendly and you'll always get a warm greeting whenever you pass one of them. The best part about the hotel is May Baileys, the attached pub that used to be a bordello. When you walk through those doors, you're whisked away to times past. It's just so charming and historic and the bartenders will talk the night away with you. The free breakfast is great — cereal, hard boiled eggs, lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants, bagels, toast, make-it-yourself waffles, coffee, tea, etc. It'll be your healthiest meal of the day in New Orleans, so fill up! :)
The pool is lovely (salt water) and so is the courtyard, with lots of space to chill and unwind after a long day. There's even a fabulous fitness room just off the courtyard for those who are keen on keeping up with their routine. What's the fun in that, though?

Oh, and what makes this place really shine is that it's a two minute walk from all the action. It's located in the heart of the French Quarter on such a beautiful street. You seriously can not ask for a more prime location. Two minute walk to Bourbon for those who like to party and two minute walk to St. Peter Street (Where Preservation Hall and Pat O'Brian's is) and two minutes from Decatur and Royal Street, Jackson Square, etc, etc.. you get the picture.

Fabulous place, super affordable and such character and charm! Book this hotel and you won't regret it!
