With a four day pass from home and our 2 young children, we though long and hard about where we should go. We finally decided on New Orleans and with a little more checking and help from Trip Advisor reviews we decided on B&W Courtyards. I knew I'd made the right choice when I spoke to Rob on the phone to confirm the booking. He was so full of life and enthusiasm on the phone that I know he would be a great help in navigating the culinary and other experiences to be had in this great city,

The B&B is the residential area of Chartres Str and is surrounded by quaint beautifully painted litte houses, The rooms are definitely compact and bijou but nicely decorated. If you want lots of space this is not the place for you! Breakfast was served on magnificent china on a communal table in the dining area. it really felt like you were house guests as Rob, Kevin and even Rob's brother sat and chatted with us. They were a fount of information and entertaining stories and we probably could have sat chatting with them all day but there were tours to be done. We did the Post Katerina Tour and the Plantation tour with "Tours with Isabel" both of which were excellent. We also did a walking tour from the 1850 house on Jackson sq with Lisa Carr which was superlative.

The B&B is nicely situated a stroll from Frenchmen street which is much more pleasant environment to listen to music than Bourbon Str. We saw an excellent three man band called Washboard Chaz - the singer also played the washboard/hotel bell/tin can contraption

Rob & Kevin run their B&B with laidback charm and N'awlins hospitality. We were 3 couples in town for Jazzfest - rooms were small (except for the Barbados Suite in the back) but cozy, clean, charming. Courtyard is beautiful, dripping with plants and water fountains and personality. Hot tub was clean and very inviting. Our hosts were full of great restaurant recos, regaled us with stories & gave us great advice.
I was a bit nervous about the location (would it be too far from Quarter, fairgrounds, etc.?) but it was absolutely perfect. Close to the great jazz clubs on Frenchman Street, and close to the cabstand so easy to find transportation when our feet were tired.
If I could change one thing? The bathrooms sure are tiny. Otherwise, big thumbs up!

I'd highly recommend staying at B&W Courtyards.

The location is fantastic, close enough to be within walking distance to the French quarter, but far enough to be away from madding crowds. The building is located in a sleepy little neighborhood, that allows one to experience the real New Orleans.

Rob and Kevin couldn't be better hosts. They're incredibly friendly and genuinely enthusiastic about getting to know their guests. Breakfast is great. Rob is a one-man travel guide/concierge service. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Rates are reasonable.

“The Best in New Orleans!”

This is just a really, really fun place! We loved it! I hadn't been to N.O. since Katrina, so I didn't know what to expect, but the French Quarter is pretty much the same as before, and still beautiful. The gardens at the B&B are lovely, tropical, and really make you forget the outside world. The rooms are great, hosts very nice and very helpful. We really enjoyed the restaurants the host recommended, and saw all the sights. We couldn't have felt more welcome! We will go back every trip we make there now. We found a real jem.

“Terrific New Orleans B&B”

My wife and I prefer staying in Bed and Breakfasts because we like to absorb the local culture and experience the ambiance missing from your typical hotel/motel. We have had mixed success in New Orleans even before Katrina and had a horrid experience while attending last year's Jazzfest. With some trepidation, we resisted the urge to stay with friends at a major hotel during this year's Jazzfest and took a chance on B&W Courtyards, a somewhat bland name for a little gem located in the Fauberg Marigny, just a few minutes walk from the French Quarter. And we are so glad we did!

Upon our arrival, we were met by the proprietor Rob, a feisty, but warm and caring host who made us feel as comfortable as if we had known each other for years. His vivid sense of humor entertained us each day and his unvarnished recommendations for restaurants and other aspects of the local scene were spot on target. His partner proprietor Kevin quickly grabbed our bags from our trunk and whisked them to our room, which was large and spotless and very comfortable and private. Kevin graciously attended to our every need during our stay and prepared a sumptuous continental breakfast each morning that was handsomely presented with hand-carved fruits and mouth-watering pastries. We got to know the other interesting guests and enjoyed swapping stories with them each morning, adding to the total experience.

The inn itself is a typical New Orleans home of this vintage - unpreposing on the outside, but large and spacious on the inside with a courtyard brimming with character and charm. The neighborhood provides a feeling of really being in New Orleans, rather than just passing through as a tourist. Since we drove, we had some hesitation about parking, but found that not to be an issue as there was plenty of safe parking right in front of the house. Cabs are plentiful and walking to nearby Frenchman's Street and the French Quarter is easy.

Once again, we enjoyed the music of Jazzfest and related activities around town and the unbeatable dining in the city. However, our total experience was magnified this year by our stay at B&W and the wonderful hospitality we received from our new "old friends". We look forward to many return visits.
