“A restored 1850 apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

If you're near Jackson Square (and most tourists are at some point), the 1850 House is worth a look. It doesn't take long to see, and it's only $3. It consists of an apartment in the Pontalba Buildings that has been restored to look as it would have in 1850 when it was the home of a wealthy merchant. I was amazed at how large the rooms are. The bonus is the excellent shop (where you buy your ticket). It has a fantastic selection of books on NOLA topics.

“Napoleon's death mask”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

This is worth visiting. One walks around Jackson Square and might not stop here if they dont know how fabulous it is. And all the portraiture of the leaders of society and government through the centuries. This is a gem.

“Look inside at the history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

We went for the Creole Christmas tour and loved it. This house gave us a view of the lifestyles that made the French Quarter stylish. The building was surprisingly tall and the guides were very informative and friendly. This is our kind of thing…

“Really steep long stairs but Included in the walking tour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

The house was interesting enough but there weren't that many rooms. The stairs were really long & steep. If you have a problem with mobility, it would be hard to tour. However if you signed up for the walking tour of the Fr Qtr, the entry fee was included so it didn't cost you anything.

“Great exhibit on Katrina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Very thoughtful and well done exhibit on Katrina. Loved the first person accounts and the selection of meaningful artifacts. We are big museum goers, which means we can be picky because we've seen both the good and the bad. This exhibit hit it out of the park.
