Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

When we got on the Streetcar the Lady Driver literally threw us off saying " I am going in the other direction" we got off and the Streetcar continued in the direction it was headed!!! Very confusing, Driver disgustingly rude as were the other Drivers on the Streetcars. The seats are very pretty all wood and well maintained. At least they didnt' talk back. I guess my Bro and I felt intimidated by the unhelpful drivers. No I wouldnt ride these Tramcars again until the folks steering them get a life. Jump in one of those Ricksaw 2seater Bikes that takes you where you need to go and the person transporting you more than glad to divulge info. On the City and grateful for your patronage.

“San Francisco without the Hills!”

I didnt get to ride the Street car in SF so I made sure I did in NOLA. We rode through the Garden District and enjoyed the ride and the homes along the way.

“Great way to see Uptown.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

The streetcar is a cheap and easy way to get from the French Quarter in Uptown. The fare is $1.25 or $.40 senior citizens. Day and week passes are available. It can get crowded in the afternoon with kids heading home from school.

“This is by far the best way to get around in NOLA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We are locals and hate to pay to park or the hassle of driving around looking for a spot. We parked down by Carrollton and hopped on the streetcar. You can bring a drink on as long as it has a top, so we stopped in a little bar got a drink and rode down to the french quarter, what a great way to meet new people and enjoy the view. Way better than driving.
Check the times that they stop running we lucked out and the one that we were on continued past 2am but if we would have parked a bit further we would have been out of luck and had to walk.
