Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

“You have to do it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

You just HAVE to do it! Unfortunately, we had to do part of the route by bus as work is being done on the track to extend and improve the streetcar route.
Just pay your $1.25 and get on at the start and stay on 'til the end.
Then pay your $1.25 and come back again.
It's simple. You get to see lots of things from a traditional streetcar. It's cheap and great fun.
Obviously, it's also a cheap way to get about the city to sightsee.

“Everyone should ride one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

How convenient this is. So happy it is running so we could use it while on vacation. I think this should be one of the 1000 things one needs to do before they die

“Oldest Streetcar in the world!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Loud and rattles quite a bit but you should ride it at least once just to say you did. The price is right - only $3 for an unlimited all day pass that is good on any bus or street car in NOLA.

“A Street Car Sometimes Named Desire”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

every tourist should take the street car just once into the Garden District, but be aware that it can be a long trip. My advice is take it to the Bend, and catch another bus or cab back if you don't have time to dawdle. Or...take it through Garden District and stop by the Columns for a drink, and walk to other side of the street for the ride back. Also useful to get to the shops on Magazine, a couple of streets behind St. Charles
