Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

“So disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We were excited about the prospect of taking the riverfront street car to/from Canal St to the French Market in order to minimize walking as much as possible due to physical limitations. We purchased a one day pass. Signs said cars would not be running after 7pm that evening for service (likely due to Superbowl preparations) so we thought we had planned accordingly. We sat at NORTA stop # 5 from 6pm to 7pm and the train never came and the monitors and ride line phone number offered no assistance.

“Very easy to get off and on.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Very convient way to travel around NOLA. It was like an inexpensive tour. Passing all of the old houses on the way to the zoo was really neat, and my kids enjoyed the ride.

“Not If You're In a Hurry!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Fun way to get around, but it's slooooow. And on this visit, part of the line was under construction so we could not take it all the way into the French Quarter.

“Beautiful Piece of History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

We rode the St. Charles and Riverfront Lines. Not all of the lines are back online but the bus drivers were great in helping us figure out how to get from where we were to where we needed to go for the streetcars. You can purchase 1 or 3 day Jazzy passes ($3 or $9) for unlimited riding. Otherwise, you'll need $1.25 for each trip - exact change only. We did the St. Charles loop twice just to take in all of the scenery.

“Closed for repairs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

We chose a hotel in the Garden District specifically knowing that we could take the trolley into the French Quarter. What a disappointment to find that it was closed for repairs during our 3 day stay. Maybe nexttime.
