One of the few cemeteries above ground because of the problem with low ground and water problems. It is on the tourist list and has an interesting history. Worth a visit because of it's local significance.

“Quirky thing to do but a must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This needs to be part of your tour to New Orleans if history interests you. There are some very interesting people resting here, all above ground.

“Interesting facts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Did the cemetary tour as part of the Garden District tour. Very interesting information worth a visit however if you dont take a tour your basically just walking around looking at tombs. I highly suggest taking a paid tour.

“Fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We went here on our own and just walked around. It closes relatively early, so you want to go in the daytime before dark. Fascinating to see all the above ground burials and interesting to read. Would love to do a tour, but good even for a walk through. The pavement was pretty rough, so you need to watch your step.

“really interesting old cemetery in the Garden District”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

This is one of the oldest cemeterys in NOLA and easy to get to by taking the St Charles Street car and walking 2 blocks. We visited during the day and were not worried about safety as there were a lot of people there. A very interesting cemetery
