“A "must see" New Orleans site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

If you are in New Orleans, it would definitely be worth your time to walk to the St. Louis cemetery. It is a beautiful place, which may seem odd to say about a cemetery, but it is unlike any other place I've ever seen. Be sure to visit Marie Laveau's grave--it is not formally marked but it is close to the wall on the left side as you enter the cemetery and it is covered with graffiti so it is hard to miss. We did not visit as part of a tour but there were several tours going on as we were there. If you are nervous about walking around that part of town on your own, make sure to go earlier in the day. We did not have any problems walking there from our hotel on Royal Street around lunchtime.

“BEAUTIFUL HISTORY FILLED AREA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

I loved walking through the cemetery - I would have loved to have spent more than the 15 minutes I had - and I wish it wasn't raining. But it was sooooooo worth the trip!

Fascinating place for anyone interested in history and cemeteries. I don't recommend going alone. Limited hours so plan ahead.

“Right there in town - a great little cemetery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Some really wonderful grave sites in here. I loved the photos I could get - crumbling tombs with living weeds growing out the sides. Lots of history here! And very easy to get to when you're in the heart of NO.
