“Fascinating!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

A must on a visit to NOLA! fascinating place to go. Do it on one of the walking tours though. That's the best way to get the history of the place.

“A beautiful Cemetary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Also called the city of the dead, due to the ordered streets. Lovely marble coffins, ornate and very Catholic. A statue of Mother Teresa is also present.

“Fascinating, but be careful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Truly interesting and historical above ground cemetery in varying degrees of disarray. Statues are beautiful and add to the spooky ambiance. Note- be careful- North Rampart Street is a very dangerous and high crime area- despite the police department being located close to the cemetery. Criminals have been know to stake out the area with binoculars, then after spotting vulnerable tourists send a strike team out to rob/assault them. Leave belongings at hotel, travel with groups, and go during midday.

“A beautiful piece of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

As I strolled past the graves in this beautiful cemetery I was fascinated by the names and dates on the above the ground crypts. some dating back 100's of years and so many children too. Definitely a must see. Bring a piece of paper and a soft pencil to do some grave rubbings.

“Home of the Vodoo Queen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Went here as part of a Haunted History tour. You can take a walking tour by yourself but recommend a guided tour. Our guide was excellent and gave us many "behind the scenes" information about the cemetery which made it more interesting.
