Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, the Preservation Hall venue presents intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts over 350 nights a year featuring ensembles from a current collective of 100+ local master practitioners. “Hot. Expensive. Great show”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

We had reserved seats for four ($188). The quality of the Jazz Masters (Leroy Jones And co) was excellent. The venue was sooo hot They seriously announced to buy water on the street do you didn't dehydrate. The show was very short, about 45 minutes of music

Overall a very easy (and short) way to see some high quality jazz.

We heard almost as good music in front of the church for free...do there are ways to have a less expensive music experience.

“Get Tix in Advance!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014 via mobile

My 3rd visit to non-ventilated, non-air conditioned Preservation Hall was not as pleasant (duh, it's AUGUST!) as my first 2 in cooler seasons --- but the jazz was as hot as the room. I was very pleasantly surprised to see 2 women had joined the house band: The trombonist had powerful licks belying her slimness, and the pianist could play anywhere.
The bandleader/soft-voiced vocalist/trumpet virtuoso was worth the price of admission, a marvel. Warning: If you want to avoid standing in line, and you'd like a shot at sitting down with almost unobstructed views, pay early and pay more -- on line.
This is one of New Orleans' very top attractions if you like jazz.

“No AC or guaranteed seats but WORTH IT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

This was an amazing experience. I thought sitting in there listening to sexy jazz on a hot night was an awesome experience. Those with me weren't as thrilled with the rustic atmosphere but I say GO FOR IT!

“Amazing Show”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

The absolute best part of our trip was the show at preservation hall. The music was just amazing-- the room is small, and has no climate control-- but it feels so authentic, I wouldn't want it any other way. If you enjoy live music at all, make the time for preservation hall.

Tip-- buy tickets online ($35 to $45) and avoid waiting in line for hours. Just walk up 20 minutes before show time, grab you tickets from the door agent, and grab a drink next door at Pat O'Brien's.

“Preservation Hall is a Must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

If you want to experience the sound that made New Orleans what it is then Preservation Hall is the place to go. These guys are living history. There is no way you can go without tapping your toe to a tune. Be prepared to possibly stand if you go in peak tourist season. I've been there a dozen times or more and never tire of it.
