“Helps you understand the creole life from the inside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

I love old houses and imagine how people used to live in the past. For 10$, this guided tour takes you back to the 1860's. The guide was lovely, perhaps not knowledgeable in all things, but so nice and attentive to our interests. Thanks!

“Beautiful house museum!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Definitely worth visiting! It's a fun way to learn some New Orleans history. This house also has slave quarters on display and the tour guide spoke a good to their experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and answered all of our comments.

Make sure you check on the tour times. They only offer tours at scheduled times.

“A nice house tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

This was a guided tour through a house built in the 1800's. It was designed and built by an architect name Gallier for his family and himself to live in. It was decorated in period pieces, but they were not original to the house. It was very beautiful. The guide told stories about the family and about what it was like to live in New Orleans back in the 1800's. All very interesting.

Note: You can buy a combination ticket to tour another house, The Hermann-Grima House, which is just off of Bourbon Street.
We toured both and they were both nice in thier own way. Also, we were able to get a Groupon, so check there from time to time if you are planning to do this.

“glimpse into new orleans' past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

The Gallier House is a wonderful glimpse into the history of New Orleans. The tour is carefully scripted to explain various household experiences in the lives of the Gallier family and their friends. It is a beautiful home and worth the visit.
