Gorgeous square outside St.Louis cathedral. We bought lunch at a local grocery and ate in the park. Fabulous atmosphere and amazing scenery.
Great place to people watch - and make sure you visit Cafe DuMond - sit in the cafe (the line looks long, but it really moves fast) or take some beignets and cafe au lait to go and sit in the park in front of the cathedral.
We loved going to Jackson Square to people watch. There were artists all over selling their pictures. There were random bands playing and other street performers around. It was just a great relaxing place to hang out.
Jackson Square is a must stop for anyone visiting New Orleans. The french district feels entirely out of Europe, and visitors will be transported to another continent. Currently the Christmas tree was up across from the square, which was really beautiful. There is always a lot of fantastic activity around the square, and looking at all the wonderful artists is fun as well.
Jackson Square Park is a nice setting in the middle of city hustle and bustle. The most interesting part we found were the artists that set up their wares on the sidewalks along the perimeter of the park. Those displays should not be missed.
