“Average Zoo but worth a visit if you have kids!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

If you don't have anything to do while your in New Orleans, than this is worth a visit. Its a smaller zoo, and is presently going a lot of renovations, but is well laid out. The train ride that goes around the zoo is helpful as well in getting around. Your typical city zoo with animals and attractions.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

I know Katrina hit the zoo but it just felt really rundown, not many animals out and those that were didn't exactly look happy. Luckily I didn't have to pay to get in as it came as one of the attractions on the New Orleans Power Pass. New exhibits are being built so hopefully it will be better in years to come.

The grounds were great and most animals had lots of natural space. The amphibian exhibit is extensive

“Nice and pleasant day trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

We really enjoyed the Louisiana swamp part, and it looks like the updates to the zoo will make it a finer destination. Loved the green spaces and the themed areas, especially the Mayan area. Great for pictures.

“Nice Sunday afternoon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Took our 2 year old grandson and his mom for a visit. We had a very nice stroll through the zoo. Too bad the elephant display was being renovated. I think the $12.00 admission for a 2 year old is extreme, considering what the adults have to pay. I realize Katrina damaged the zoo and it is pleasant, but not sensational. It could use some trash patrol, also. All staff were very courteous and the volunteer youngsters in the hands-on area were delightful.
