“Family Friendly !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This is as close to Europe you'll get in the U.S. Avoid Burbon St.
(which seems to be slowly changing for the better) and you will enjoy walking for hours in the shops, restaurants and unusual homes. The National Parks Service offers free guided walking tours.

“Nice Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

It was nice to walk around the french quarter and see the buildings and shops. There were several people begging for money or squatting out front of stores, which wasn't pleasant. The horse carriage tour was a nice break from walking and a quick history lesson.

“Great antique shops but didn't feel safe at night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Definitely visit during the day. The antique stores have some very cool and unique items but at night the whole place deteriorates - ie. there was a murder on Burbon Street the night I was there.

“Safe and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

So many places to see. So much history! Several good restaurants and bars as well as antiques, specialty shops and bistros. Had fun walking around and felt safe at night.

“quaint, quirky and cool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

I was able to wander around the french quarter quite a bit. There were many interesting shops--antiques, clothing and a tearoom/palm reading shop to name just a few. There are also A LOT of junky tourist traps, that seemed to have Mardi Gras beads and awful tshirts for sale--I just passed those shops up.
