We tried Lombardino's on a Saturday night during a recent trip to Madison. While parking took a bit of time, our reserved table was ready at the appointed hour. Our group included two individuals that weren't as hungry as I was, resulting in only one appetizer--the mussels with rock shrimp. This was a beautiful dish of PEI mussels and small rock shrimp, with garlic, shallots, spinach, and bacon in an anise-flavored cream sauce. Main selections in our group included the roasted beet salad and the linguine with clams and rock shrimp--both of which were tasty. When ordering, I was undecided betwen the pappardelle with rabbit ragu and the strozapretti with mushrooms and parsnips. Our waitress, Jenn, suggested that I didn't have to make the difficult call and that she could arrange for a half-order of each. It was nicely presented on a large plate and I thoroughly enjoyed both. We all commented on her service that night--both friendly and attentive. Good food, interesting menu. I would definitely recommend it.
