“Worth the walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Finally had a day of cool weather so opted to walk all over town today. The 3 mile round-trip walk to the Monona Terrace was worth it. The views from the Terrace across the lake and in to downtown were beautiful. We picked up a brochure from the Main Entrance on 4th floor and went from floor to floor to view the Frank Lloyd Wright building and all the pictures/exhibits. The added bonus was an unexpected gift shop on 5 where we were able to pick up some very reasonably priced Frank Lloyd Wright inspired gifts for friends back home. In all our travels have never come across these type gifts. Wonderful, and FREE, adventure.

“Good convention center for a meeting of about 1500 people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

The building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It sits on a lake and has large windows facing out. There are 4 large ballrooms (A, B, C, D) that can be combined in various ways, and many small meeting rooms (labelled by the rest of the alphabet). There is an exhibit hall downstairs. One can arrange to have convention dinners there. There is a very small rooftop cafe that can accommodate perhaps 70 people; it has a small number of sandwiches, soup, soft drinks, desserts; but it has a nice view. One sits outside under umbrellas, so it's for good weather. The one drawback (perhaps) is that the restrooms are at either end of the convention center and it's a long walk, especially for older people. There's a small indoor cafe that seats even fewer and has coffee and sweets like muffins. However, it's an easy walk to a lot of restaurants surrounding the state house. Plus, if you are there on a Saturday, there is a tremendous farmer's market on the square.

“Classy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We took some Wisconsin artisan cheese and sat at one of the tables looking out on the lake for a little snack. A beautiful site and also a wonderful public facility.

“Frank Lloyd Wright Building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

We took a tour of this building. My husband is a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright. Very interesting story of how it was built as well as the man himself.
