Out of the 3 Capitol buildings I've visited (D.C, Austin and this one), this is simply spectacular.
Unlike Austin, there's no security checks to go through, and the building was a welcome haven from the humid, warm weather outside.
You can actually go through quite a few levels, and even up a narrow spiral staircase on to the roof terrace, for some awesome views of the city, and across the lake.
The building is IMMACULATELY clean, and incredibly well restored and maintained. The main mosaics in the dome area are quite spectacular, and the attention to details is superb. Craftsmanship in buildings from 150 years ago has just never been matched, in my opinion.
Even if you're not too interested in the history of the building, it's a nice way to spend a few hours. I was truly entranced by the beauty of the architecture.
