“Great hotel and staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

I stayed here for two nights for a group meeting. The rooms have recently been renovated and were comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. There is a shuttle to and from the Madison airport which was very helpful. The hotel also allowed us to use conference room space for no additional cost which was great! You can walk to many restaurants from here as well. We had access to the "Governor's Club" for breakfast, cocktails, and appetizers, but only ever made it for breakfast. It was good with hot and cold items - my only complaint is it is set up as a lounge, and there aren't tables to accommodate groups of four or more that might like to eat together. Additionally there is a restaurant (Dayton Grill) and separate bar (The Bar) in the lobby. Three weddings here on the weekend, so I think it is a popular hotel for the area.

I have stayed here twice both on business. My first stay was on the second floor. My room was recently renovated with a knockout shower ( Full shower with tile and glass doors ) , huge desk and nice flat screen TV. The mini fridge , coffee maker and sitting chair were the sprinkles on my cupcake. On my second stay, I stayed on the 5th floor. The room was nice but I was hoping for the large shower. I did not try the hotel restaurant but there are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The staff was prompt, courteous and efficient.

My daughter and I were in Madison for a college visit and this hotel was perfect! Close to everything from shopping to restaurants and campus. Very nice room and service was great! Would stay there again the next time I am in Madison.

We have stayed here many times over the years on football weekends and on other trips to Madison. This is a great location for the bars, shops, restaurants, and farmers' market. It is a bit of a hike to Camp Randall for the game but given all the beer we drank and cheese curds we ate it was good exercise. The rooms on the upper floors have been nicely redone and are very comfortable. The indoor pool though small is nice. We were so busy I did not even check out if their wifi was free or not. Overall a great location if you want to park the car for the weekend to explore the city.

Cozy downtown Madison location in the shadow of the capitol building makes this a landmark stay. Just a short walk from the State Street area of hip bars and chic restaurants, The Concourse provides a central location to suite the needs of any traveler. Enjoy "The Bar" in the lobby for a refreshing cocktail and then hit their indoor pool or full gym for a workout.

The directions to the hotel were confusing. It took a while to navigate the streets near the capital.
The hotel lobby and convention center are beautiful. The rooms were noisy. Every time a door in the hallway closed it made a very loud noise. I found it difficult to sleep. A set of $2 bumpers reinserted in the door frames would fix that. Staff really didn't seem to care about this type of complaint. Imagine trying to sleep with steel doors slamming around you two dozen times a night. Stayed three sleepless nights for a conference. Never again.

Great location for visiting University of Wisconsin, clean, helpful and friendly staff.
Rooms are nice and shuttles available to wherever you need to go in Madison. Right near Capital and Farmers Market and lots of great restaurants in walking distance.

Room Tip: Try concierge floor.
