“We only went to the waterpark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We were in town to visit friends and wanted something to do with our 2 & 6 year old.
2year old was free, 6year old was $10, the adults were charged $15 each.
The area was very nicely maintained, 2 lifeguards on duty, large hot tub area, play area for little kids and a big, slow slide that was perfect for the 6year old. Even has a nice sized arcade for $.50 a play.
Everything was clean and had a nice decor. There is a bar area but it was not staffed when we were there.
The hot tub is HUGE, says 20 people but that is a very comfortable 20 people. Big enough to let the kids swim (if alone).
The pool has a pirate ship with 2 slide for my 2year old and a fountain slide for her to climb on too. The big pool is big enough to swim around, there is a basket ball goal and ball in the water too. The slide is big enough for elementary age kids to enjoy but 13year + would be a little board with it.
Definately does not compete with a Dells park but very nice for an afternoon.

Thank you for staying at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Madison West. I am glad you and your family had such a nice time at our Crawdaddy Cove Waterpark. It is a great waterpark for young children and adults. The waterpark is the perfect size to enjoy watching your kids have fun on the slides and boat.

We look forward to seeing you again, the next time you are visiting the Madison area for business your family getaway.

Thank you

I come to the Madison area once a year for a conference and have stayed at this Holiday Inn about 7 times. The conference is down the street at the Marriott, however I enjoy this hotel much more. The rooms are updated and are very clean. The free internet works well - and has on each of my visits. The staff has always been friendly and helpful.

The hotel has a water park in it with several pools, slides etc. It is geared to kids and would be a great winter break for a family. The inside facing rooms overlook the water park and have patios or a balcony. There is a full service restaurant on site and a lobby bar with several flat screens. If you want to eat off site there are a number of places to eat a few blocks to the north.

The only funny note about this stay was when I went to get a free drink using a welcome card. They had about 6 beers on tap including a New Belguim (Colorado) one. The bartender told me that the card was only good for domestic beers. Tried to explain it to her but geography was not one of her best subjects - went for a local beer instead.

Room Tip: Inside rooms face the water park - I think it closes at 7 PM - so there is no night time noise. Outs...

My family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn West on 9/14-16. We had to get last minute rooms do to a family emergency bringing us up to Madison as a family meember was at the UW Hospital. When I called on Friday night to check availability the front desk clerk was very nice and accomodating and helping me get three rooms last minute. Also, each day when we had to extend our stay they were right there to help us in anything we needed (I will say the first morning when we extended they made us switch rooms which was a pain but I understood). In a time of stress and high emotions for my family and I the hotel staff couldn't have been better. I wish we had more time to use the amenities at the hotel as the pool, resturant and bar looked great but most of our time was spent at the hospital or taking turns sleeping in the hotel rooms. Thank you again and if we are ever back in the Madison area we wll be sure to use the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites West.

We stayed at the hotel 8/31 through 9/3. We had a double queen pool access room. The room itself was fine. However, the housekeeping services fell well below our expectations. When we arrived, we found 3 bath towels, so we went to front desk to get another, since there were four of us. The first morning we made coffee and showered. When we came back, the room had been done - however, there were no towels - clean or used - and no coffee replaced. I called the front desk and was told that if I wanted it soon, to come down and get it because it would be awhile. I said whenever was fine and later we received four towels and coffee. Then realized that the coffee cups hadn't been replaced, so back down to the front desk. This type of service continued each day. Upon returning to the room, we would have to go to the front desk to get towels and coffee. The bartender in the lobby bar gave us a stack of coffee cups, so we didn't have to ask for those. Completely unacceptable service, which surprises me for a Holiday Inn.

There was a wedding reception there on the night of 09/01, so parking was very very limited - to the point that we could not find a place to park when we returned to the hotel that evening. We ended up having to park at the far end - in the section reserved for the restaurant. Then the end of the party came and the guests started to disperse and find there rooms. We were in room 1028, which is right around the corner from the front desk and elevator. The guests were so loud and rude - that we were woken up and then kept up for 30+ minutes. We realize the group had had fun and didn't mean to be rude, but we felt that the front desk agent could have handled the situation by reminding them to be quiet etc. There is NO WAY the front desk agent couldn't hear them.

Room Tip: Do not pick a pool access room - the walls and doors must be very thin - because these rooms are ver...

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend with two small kids (4 years and 20 months) in one of the Kid Suites (we had also stayed in one of the suites last year). The room itself was a little on the small side but still OK for a family of four. When you walk in there's a microwave/fridge and the bathroom, then a closet and "Crawdaddy Cove" - a bunk bed, desk and tv, and then a 3/4 wall separating the bunk beds from the king sized bed and large TV in the room. With no door and the 3/4 wall, some noise and light from the room make it in, but we were able to watch TV with the kids sleeping. The king bed part of the room seems to be a little newer than the kids part, which has a little more wear and tear, but that also could be because of the occupants of each part. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and housekeeping seemed to be watching for when we left because we were gone for 45 minutes and had a clean room on return (although like other reviewers, there were only three towels in the room for four people)

The Kid Suites (at least on the 2nd and 3rd floors) have doors on both sides of the room - one to the hallway and one that opens to a balcony/hallway with tables and chairs and stairs that lead down to the water park. This was great so we could just wear our swimsuits down and then come right back up into our room without going through the lobby or the elevator. Having the balcony right there is also nice to hang out on after the kids are asleep. We were on the third floor and noise from the pool area wasn't a problem.

The water park is great for smaller kids - our kids had a blast in the kids part on the smaller slides and the ship, as well as going down the larger water slide on our laps. For younger kids I think this park would be a lot of fun, but for older kids I think it would be a little boring. I don't know of a better one in the Madison area, though.

With the water park and the divided rooms, I think it's a great hotel for small kids. It would be nice if the rooms were a little bigger, or if some of the furniture was removed (I'm thinking of the gigantic wooden desk next to the bunk beds in particular). It's also convenient for food and shopping - there's a restaurant in the hotel (now it's Benvenuto's, which has another location in Fitchburg) and there are many restaurants and fast food places about a mile away, as well as Target and other chain stores. If you were traveling for business or without kids, I think there are better hotels that are less expensive in the area, but with small kids, I think this is the best one on the west side of Madison.

Room Tip: Third floor kids suites have balconies that are open up to the roof of the water park and a great vi...

Stayed here with wife and two kids (ages 5 and 7). One of the nicer Holiday Inns I have stayed at. Kids really enjoyed the water park. Water park was nice for the younger kids and worked great for us but probably not very exciting for the older ones. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Two queen room was plenty big for the four of us. Stayed on second floor and the only downfall was you could hear everything above you. Not a big deal for us as we all slept right through it. Great overall experience and would stay again! Restaurant on site was also very good with great service!

Spent about 4 weeks for business purposes.
Staff were really professional and courteous.
Convenient Italian restaurant in same building as the hotel. Good food. AND the complementary breakfast is simply wonderful.
The only little setback for those of you who care about it is that in some rooms, the wi-fi is not as strong.
Loved the hotel!
