I loved the Edgewater Hotel. Madison is a great town, first of all. Very scenic. Great restaurants and shops. Good theatre scene. Beautiful old homes. Nice parks. The Edgewater does not look like much from the outside, and even inside it is a bit dated. But we had a room on the lower level directly over the lake. It was as if we were on a cruise. The only thing that you could see was water, a few trees and the occasional crew team, duck or fisherman going by. It was quiet and calm and peaceful. The room was very spacious. Two comfy beds, desk, table and chairs. Double sinks, one in the bathroom and one outside of it. Direct access from the (Free) parking garage to the room, with a room key, so it is safe. There is a restaurant and lounge in the hotel, but we did not visit them. The hotel is in walking distance to everything! I highly recommend staying here. The rooms in the "tower" portion of th building are quite different. I hear they are suites with seperate living and sleeping quarters and two bathrooms but many do not have water views. Go for the lower rooms. It really was quite pleasant. The staff was helpful and the parking is free and convenient. All in all, a great stay.
