“Easy 90 min stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Cute little group of unusual pueblos. Accessible pathways. The canyon crossing to the left is moderate and but short. If you go to the right, you can see it all without descending. Backtrack to the beginning.

“Remote, Peaceful Ruins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

A group of very interesting ruins constructed circa 1200 A.D. by Native Americans. Quite interesting and mysterious...what happened to them, and why did they build such unusual structures?? You can look at will around a 2 mile trail, see about 1/2 of them on a handicapped acessible 1/2 mile round trip walk. Further exploration in a 4X4 will reveal sites away from the main group at the monument itself. Leashed pets welcome on the trails.

“This place is amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

If you have a high clearance 4x4 truck and you're in the Hovenweep area, then you MUST make the drive (very slowly) to Cutthroat Canyon Castle. About 4 miles off the main road with the last mile having the 4x4 mandatory. But the castle ruins are fabulous and well worth the off-road drive.

“Accessible and substantial ruins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

These are worth seeing. As is mentioned, there is a wheelchair path to the nearest ruin that also allows distant viewing of some others. A 45 minute hike which is not at all difficult allows close-up views of many ruins that are not too decayed. Visiting this site requires about a 30 mile drive into the countryside and a 30 mile return. These are not cliff dwellings but buildings on the canyon rim and the canyon bottom.
